Out of interest, why do you start all your post with ...?

.......that was a frequently asked question when I first started posting an age ago. My explanation is that a thread is a continuous conversation. The exception is when I start a thread myself. I have to say that I notice other posters also start with ....... Hope that helps.

Anyway, i am reading all these health warnings about this eclipse coming up and how to not look at the sun. So dont look at the eclipse, dont take a selfie of the eclipse, dont talk about the eclipse etc, you get my meaning. But i have one question.

THE SUN DOESNT GO ANYWHERE!!!!! WHY THE HELL DO WE NEED ALL THESE PROFESSIONALS TELLING US NOW THAT LOOKING AT THE SUN IS BAD FOR US?

Seriously are we all stupid? Are we seen as sheep? the sun is apparently dangerous all the time but we dont all get warnings about burning our eyes any other time of the last 20 years. Only for the eclipse! I know people will be looking at it but at the same time people look at the sun when its not an eclipse.

So yeah, seriously, why are we getting spoken to like children?

Because if you try and look at the Sun normally you will naturally look away quite quickly, before it does real damage. The reduced light from an eclipsed Sun might be more tolerable, but will still cause permanent damage. Don't see what the problem is with a brief bit of advice.

Fwiw me and my mate watched the 99 eclipse through his mum's net curtains, rudimentary but it worked!
