11 teams need to overtake us for us to go down.

Assuming we lose all remaining 11 games, then newcastle & southampton only need to get 6 points to do it. But cardiff will need 23 points out of a possible 27 to do so and west brom need 23 out of a possible 30. The question is given those 11 teams have to play each other, is there enough points to go around for all of them to overtake us.

You would have to say yes, given even west brom can lose 2 games and still overtake us. And so mikey is being premature to celebrate our safety.

Though I'd fancy us to bounce straight back up next year, so it's not all bad.
