Know you say a fair bit about brands in the negative context mate, but digne was a pretty much perfect piece of recruitment by him, price, calibre, attitude the lot really.

Get that wrong and you have problems internally, needed to be a player whose massively and visibly ahead of the current baines really when that change happened.

Needs to be repeated a lot sooner than we hoped over the other side now though, cokeman sadly is clearly regressed post injury and doubt it's ever coming back for him.

Digne is what we were told was Brands' modus operandi : good young players on the periphery of top teams given a chance here. He is a massive success. That one was clearly dwn to him (Brands). And Gomes. I still dont buy into the rest fully though. Not yet.

Mina will become a great player for us, with a caveat, as long as we recruit the proper CB partner for him at the back.

Bernard, sorry mate but the lads absolute class, and digne improves when he's playing behind him due to that partnership.

Gomes - great recruitment, Richarlison although liked by brands, almost certainly the price we paid was due to Silva pushing for him, Zouma, a necessary loan who I don't forsee staying beyond this season

I'd say a great start.

Baines, as we all know isnt getting any younger, age catches up with us all, he still does "a job", but hes not the Baines we knew, which isnt his fault, I still love him, but, ah screw it, we need a freaking LEFT BACK.

As said: "yet". I think there's a difference between confirmed class like Gomes and Digne and what we see so far with Bernard, Mina, Zouma.

I concede it's a good strike rate by Brands so far.
