Watching the game yesterday I was surprised that Willian, who I hadn’t regarded as a flyer, seemed to be absolutely skinning Digne and on occasion Holgate for pace. Have I missed Willian’s electric pace, or, were our defenders just not at the races yesterday?
From minute one, Chelsea looked like they were relishing the chance to dish out a hiding to a team that they have zero respect for.

Willian is good enough to trouble anyone, but he definitely had a particular spring in his step on Sunday.

Digne to me just looks French and has a French expression on his face at all times with some french gestures and stares thrown in for good measure.

Because he looks French i assumed he was at one with himself...

Hope its all false rumours...only 2 clubs in france could do deals with us PSG and Lyon...
He looks like someone who spends his lunch breaks desperately refreshing Indeed, Monster and CV-Library.

Anything but in the know, but someone I know in the journo world said it’s quite common knowledge amongst anyone close to Everton that he’s unsettled.

No idea if the club have came to an agreement, just that he’s unsettled, which is to do with his wife, more than him.

I’ll be surprised if Anyone who actually wants him in France could afford him mind.

Baffles me that the club would spend £50k a week (or whatever enormous sum he's on), and not employ people to help players, and their families, settle in. Heck, given the amount the players pay agents etc., I'm amazed they don't have people to help them do just that.

Surely they do... Toyota employed somebody to that for me on 50k a year.

I recall reading somewhere that him and his wife were struggling on becoming parents where one of them is away a lot, but I din't think the club can help much with that.

Possibly not, but you'd imagine someone on their salary would have a few 'hired help' around the place. A nanny would seem a given, and what with Digne's profession, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have a chef also.

What I mean is in terms of actually being able to spend time together as a family and for one half of them being professionally unable to get up multiple times a night etc.

The rest, I agree on.

Even then though, you don't get an impression that a footballer's life is a 9-5 one. It's possibly changed a lot, but they used to train in the mornings and have afternoons off didn't they? Possibly there are things now to occupy them throughout the day now, but even so, Digne won't be doing night shifts or anything. There will be a decent amount of travel involved, but that's probably common for a lot of executives etc.

Post natal depression really doesn't care what job you do though. Having kids is hard, no matter who you are. If she's struggling as a new mum then she's struggling as a new mum.

Again, I agree. But you are expected to spend a lot of your time sat on your arse recovering and to prioritise sleep and recovery. Travel may be common in a lot of jobs, but its also common for "trailing spouses" to suffer when they are/feel isolated in a place where they don't know anybody or speak the language (Not that I know any of this about Madame Digne). My ex found it really difficult.

No, that is indeed a fair point. Hopefully if the family are struggling for whatever reason, then they're able to get the support they need.
