Was "over" for both him and Pogba when they decided they are better off as "brands" instead of footballers with massive deficiencies. Still no idea how so many were fooled by both of them.
Pogba is a good player. He's not perhaps an elite level footballer but when he's in the right system and allowed to play without so much responsibility then he is a game changer. Good power and technique, decent turn of pace and an eye for the unpredictable. He's a strong flair player and pretty unique in that respect.
He has a place in a good Champions League team - not as
the guy but as
a guy. There's still hope that he reins in his unprofessionalism.
Lukaku, however, isn't that. Consistency comes from technique - when out of form, a good footballer can revert back to the fundamentals, get a foot on the ball and play their way into form. That's why the old adage is "form is temporary, class is permanent." Unfortunately for Lukaku, he'll have the odd game where he's unplayable, followed by half a dozen or so where he's anonymous. At the top level, that's disastrous.
At this point I have absolutely no idea why Mourinho is playing him. I understand the appeal of Lukaku as a flat track bully against sides that defend deep with no ambition, as he'll nick you goals and turn draws into wins, which is desirable when you don't have much faith in the overall technical ability of your side. But when he's not even offering that then he's truly useless.
