At the top these days you need to be more than a goalscorer. That is why he has not succeeded in better teams than we had. Hate to say it but Ian Rush back in the day was a far more complete player and what the modern striker aspires to be. Lukaku is nowhere near it.

I still say he played his best and most consistent football when he was with us.

Apart from maybe his first two years with Inter, his best days in terms of footballing prowess have certainly been here. But, his ego and wallet were too big.

I would love to have him back here, but sadly I think his ties with the club probably aren't as strong as we'd like or wish them to be.
