Only the last year here. Before that Cahill played AM.

Before that he played deeper. Call it CM or CDM, either way, the statistics show he was great at the destroyer role.
and the reason we got 27 mil for him was because of that last season, thats when he stood out most

Harsh to judge Lukaku on today but, well, there are all my concerns in a nut shell. Massive doubts he's a £20m striker.

I'd like to pay £15m to find out if he is, so here's for him having a terrible world cup and giving us a chance at him. That said, I'm increasingly finding myself not really that bothered if we get him or not.

And Fellaini was great for us - short term memory loss from those who don't like his languid style who refuse to acknowledge what he did. Covered an incredible amount of ground and was effective both offensively and defensively.

United fans scorning him don't have an igloo. If given a chance, he'll still be a top player at a top club.

Target man.

He plays towards the goal. He runs on to the ball.

We're asking him to hold it up, I guarantee he's never done it that way - he's never played in a system where it's required. He's always been able to rely on athleticism.

you're making all these statements, but i'm gonna need some sort of clarification to how you think you know that? i would've thought a big 6 ft (something) striker would have played this target man system in his footballing years.

“Let me say that I am now the complete striker. I never thought I was a target man, a No.9 who could play with his back to the goal. I always wanted to run at defenders. That is still a great quality, but now I can do both. I love playing as a real striker in the box now.

“I have been playing all season for a team which has more than 60 percent of the time possession of the ball.

“Technically I have been improving as a player. I play for a manager who makes his team play really good football and I don’t have to chase the ball all the time.

“Getting the ball so often close to the goal becomes a natural thing.

“My concentration is better than ever on finishing, rather than on running with the ball. I am absolutely convinced that moving to Everton was the best step in my career. When you feel everything is working out, it makes you so relaxed and happy as a player in big matches.’’

He says here that playing as a target man was a new thing for him at EFC.

ok...... so when he puts his everton shirt on next season.. and his first touch is [Poor language removed]... and people start to realise.... how is this quote going to change that.

For me his pros out weigh the cons.

Nobody has said he's perfect and has no faults. But he is still young enough to improve, and if he continues to get better and keep his goal ratio up then he will be an asset for any team.

And everything I have read about him tells me his attitude is very good, he wants to learn and continue to get better.
