Lukaku

The lad has little technical prowess and doesn't make much use of his strength and height but he is a goal scorer without doubt. All the time he keeps scoring then fine, both for him and us, but the lack of an all-round game is putting huge pressure on him to keep delivering the goals. Were he to hit a goal scoring drought then his confidence is going to plummet.

Sounds fine to me where it not for Naismith and how we accommodate him in the team as well.
Probably we have to accept that if we're away from home against a more difficult team Eto'o behind Naismith is a better way to keep hold of the ball, and then when the game is stretched Barkley and Lukaku on the break in the last 20 minutes. We can dominate possession against nearly all teams at home, and at least half away, so this would only be for 10 out of 38 games.

It was only two games ago he had a superb game against Lille where he did everything but score.

He then followed it up by having a fairly poor game against Sunderland but he should have even scored then so at least was still getting in positions to do so. His game today was worse than Lille but better than Sunderland, not bad given that the three players behind him didn't have especially good performances - a striker often reflects the team.

The backheel to Coleman was sex. He put in a good shift, especially considering Mirallas, Naismith, and Barkley were all out of sorts.

The attacking trio behind him were woeful today. Then you have Hibbert on one flank and McCarthy in midfield who doesn't really play defense splitting balls. Where exactly was his service going to come from today? Despite this he still nearly scored 2 against a good West Ham defense. If Barkley Mirallas and Pienaar were all fully fit and in top form behind him, and he had Baines and Coleman firing balls in as well he'd be banging them in all over the show. As it is he's just had to drift along at almost 1 in 2 in the league - shockingly poor. I really don't know what some people want. I know it was a lot of money but when you're not buying at the top table (Aguero and Costa etc) there is absolutely no guarantee of quality. For every Suarez you might find there's an Andy Carroll or a Soldado right next to him for huge money. We've got a guy who as a minimum will guarantee 15 goals a season. How many teams in the prem can say that? Chelsea, City, Arsenal, United - that it. Everyone else is chancing their hand with strike forces that may struggle to get any of their strikers into double figures (a bit like us most seasons). If he scores I don't care about the rest it's that simple. Marcus Bent was boss at holding it up and used to work really hard as well, anyone want to trade?

Spot on. Lille performance was excellence in everything but a goal. Sunderland could have still scored 2. Today scored a goal. Honestly, this kid Is gonna go on such a streak and everything will click and the beneficiaries will be us. We all want more, we are entitled to demand more from our players. This lad WILL deliver in spades I am certain of it. Felt he might get a hatrick today. ....must be saving it for Spurs next week ;)

His holdup play was good today and he won nearly every header plus scored a goal, had one disallowed and was fouled running through on goal which lead to our winner.

Bu sure he should be like Welbeck running back and linking up midfield.

He's scored 5 in 11 with a pretty poor attacking 3 behind him. It's scary to think how many he will score once we start firing.
