Oh yeah of course, still nice to see thoughPlayed 16 more games like.
Of course, pointing that out will now make me a "Lukaku hater". Same as pointing out that the "leading scorer since Cottee" ignores that Cottee didn't play in Europe and that it's a false stat as Yakubu scored 21 in one season in eight fewer games, averaging a better than 1 in 2 record too.

At times in various games this season Lukaku has shown all the necessary skills to be a world class striker, even his hold up play has on occasion been excellent. The guy is a world class mover off the last man. The way he takes the step towards and away there is fantastic.
It's a shame we don't play that way with him regularly. It's actually surprising to watch that and see him as the last man in between the defenders.

Just needs to put them all together in a single game and then repeat it week in week out, but that is what seperates the merely good from the great!

If by "on occasion" you mean "roughly three games", I agree with you.
I don't think he'll ever be any good at holding up the ball. But that doesn't mean he's not potentially world class - we just need to play him to his strengths.
I blame Lukaku for not adapting like a top player should be, but really I should be pinning a lot more blame on Martinez for using him the way he does. You have a striker here who, if used correctly, is unstoppable more often than not, yet hamstrings him due to a stupid philosophy of wanting to play as an attacking team unit without the personnel to do it.
And it's not as if Martinez hasn't already seen what he can do in such a system too; he did it for his first few months here and we saw how dynamite Lukaku was.
Just stubbornness from a very obviously stubborn man. But I still maintain that criticism of Lukaku is justified - if you're a top talent and you're asked to improve on one area of player over the best part of two years now, you'd expect much more progression than he's shown.

I hate Lukaku.
Personally think he has shown more progression that you do but that might just be me.If by "on occasion" you mean "roughly three games", I agree with you.

absolutely, he should and must improve parts of his game...but I think he wants to and will, players tend to improve massively from early to mid-twenties
We've scored 71 goals this season in all comps, Lukaku has scored or assisted 27 of them, or 38% for the statisticians. Not bad really.
