Lukaku

If he were coming from a position of strength, I'd understand these comments - after all, we've had a bad season, and I'd expect a player with a winning mentality to express his annoyance with that.

But he has been diabolical pretty much all season and should have the common sense to realise his focus should be on proving he's not as awful as he has been in the league this year at the club he's only been at one year after a £28m club record move, rather than mouthing off like a self-entitled tit.

Oh, for the record, stuff him. If someone comes in with a bid of £30m plus, it's a good riddance for me. Not because of these comments, but because maybe then we can buy a player who doesn't have the ball bounce off his shins ten yards every couple of minutes, breaking down our attacks.

I'd be actively looking to sell Mirallas, not panicking if he's going to want to go, and Lukaku for me is not far off being in the same boat.

Not arsed if he could be world class; he either does the business in a blue shirt or he can get lost.

He's telling the truth really. And I'm glad he speaks out, in fact it was probably bloody important that he did last season!

The only weird bit is about winning trophies at 22. That's no age FFS!

Telling the truth would be shouldering the blame for being useless for the past 12 months, including at the World Cup.

He's taking no blame whatsoever for last season in those comments. That's hardly the truth, as he was the focal point of a toothless attack for pretty much every game last season. His winger comments are an outright lie - he played, what, three games out wide?

Talking like a big time charlie when he's done literally nothing to suggest he's good enough for Everton, nevermind the bigger clubs. He scored goals for three months when he first arrived, and knocked a few past a crap Swiss side to boost his goal tally this season - whoop dee doo.

Ambition is fine; delusion is another thing entirely.

He scored loads in EL
it's his sale speech...

He wants out just like Kev.

Gutted.

I would kick them both out if good offers would appear.

Apart from scoring 16 in 33, and then 20 in 48.

Isn't he our record goalscorer in Europe too?

A player saying he wants to win trophies is met with discontent from the fan base - that speaks volumes.

Unbelievable really, we don't deserve success with that attitude.

He's also had a dig at tactics - which we all have. He was widely applauded for speaking up when we was on our lowest points tally a while back - He has played out wide, to no avail.

What's the issue?

I am starting to see a trend towards the manager though...

Luke Garbutt;

“With the games coming so thick and fast we hadn’t worked on a set formation. It was a quick turn around. It surprised a few of the players.

“I think I adapted to the situation well.

Romelu Lukaku

"I won't play on the wing anymore. I ve told the manager too: 'I'm useless as a winger. I will only score goals as a striker. The manager is the boss, but when something is going wrong, I tell him straight away. I hear what the others are saying too

Leighton Baines

Roberto Martinez, last season, revealed how he took Baines to Manchester United’s Champions League tie with Bayern Munich so he could study Philipp Lahm who successfully made the transition from full-back to midfield.

And though the Blues boss and Baines had discussed his potential to play there he admits to be being surprised when, eight months later, Martinez named him in Everton’s midfield at St James’ Park. “I’d never even trained there,” Baines said.

“Roberto told me on the day (that I would be playing there).

“It was fine and we did it at Hull in the second-half. It is brand new and it is about getting your bearings. I am used to playing in a position where the game is in front of me so it is new but it’s not something we had been working on or have been. I’m not sure if it will come up again in the future or not, I’ve no idea really, but I don’t mind.

Kevin Mirallas

There are promises broken and yet it makes for a somewhat awkward relationship with the coach. Soon I have a conversation with him, ”

Sylvain Distin

'On February 2, I went to see the coach about the proposal for West Ham who were offering me a transfer until the end of the season,' Distin told L'Equipe.
'The next day, at a press conference, he said that he counted on me and that I was part of the team. Since that day I haven't been called up once.
'I have no idea why. Ask him. We have not spoken since. There are a lot of things that are lost in football, and you hope there is still a bit of respect. But okay, I've played at the top level for 20 years so I'm enjoying my family weekends. I keep my spirits up.

Ah, so Lukaku is today's meltdown then.

Who was it yesterday, Mirallas? Tomorrows fume must be Cleverly.

Come on lads, players have been talking crap since time immemorial, it's the summer silly season, be patient. And see what pans out. Every day doesn't have to be a nervous breakdown.

Will be a case of we dont know what we've got til its gone, hard to find a regular goal scorer, even if his all round game is still a bit iffy

Though i suspect he'll be the greatest striker since dixie after hes gone bit like Del is the third coming of christ since hes been gone

Can we put this myth to bed please? He wouldn't get those goals without the service - did the ball magically appear at his feet for those goals or something?

Four people liked that post too - bloody hell...

Obviously he didn't have zero service but the service to him was crap for most of the season, he scored 20 whilst feeding off scraps.

His touch and hold up play might not be all that but he's the best goalscorer we've had in a long time.

@GrandOldTeam - I said I'm not bothered about ambition (I applaud it actually) - what I am bothered about is a guy who shoulders no responsibility whatsoever for a poor campaign on his part, looking to move the blame on and look for a way out of the club rather than take the bit between the teeth and rally for next season at Everton, after just one year at the club.

I'm not Martinez fan, and I kicked out at Moyes and the board for perpetuating the 'plucky little Everton' myth, but this is different entirely - this is a guy who is basically shouting about a move on the back of a poor season domestically - 10 in 36 is truly bare bones for what we should expect from a club record signing striker.

He's scored a greater proportion of Everton's goals this season.

You've made that assumption because you're an Evertonian.

He will leave soon, we all know that. He said as much on his press conference when signing. We wouldn't have paid the money without resale opportunity.

I'm the quickest to jump on a player for any discontent, but can't here. All he has said is it's time to win something (shock, horror!) and had a moan about playing out wide - which he did do earlier in the season!
