I'm sorry mate, but that's just an insult to everyone's intelligence. If that first season was down to Moyes' team and strengths, why didn't he ever get us playing good football and smashing through the 70 point ceiling with it?

The truth of the matter is that we've had one great season and a very poor one by our recent standards. They both happened on martinez's watch and he has to show that his first season in charge was no aberration but that this last season was.

Because Moyes knew how to bring in talent; he didn't know how to let it off the leash.

We aren't financially pressured. We don't have to sell him. So if we do we'll make a solid profit, otherwise we have no reason to sell.

Actually, he could let it off the leash occasionally, he was just too cautious way too often. And, on the other hand, we know that Martinez can bring in talent.

It's not black and white for either men is what I'm saying.

42 in 81 apperances doesn't exactly show he's got a problem scoring against premiership defences.

That's good enough even before you factor in 1 season was with struggling WBA team and then also take into account how awful we were at times last season.

I do find it strange how some people use the idea of him scoring against European teams as a negative against him to be honest.

EPL is the best league in the world mate, that's why.

Yeah teams like QPR, Sunderland or even Burnley would be top 4 in any other country..

Oh come on, obviously it's easier to score in the European Mickey Mouse League than the Premier League, especially if you've got a bit of power to bully the powderpuff defences of the lesser teams... Anichebe got 4 in 9 once in Europe, and he doesn't even know what a goal looks like.

As he showed at West Brom and during the World Cup, he's a tremendous threat off the bench, using his pace and power to punish tired legs.

However, he thinks he's too good for that role, and as he isn't a competent enough footballer to lead the line on his own, I don't believe he'll ever cut it at a top club.

The more games he starts, the more his goal ratio will level off.

I've already showed with a 1 in 2 ratio in the premiership he's not struggling for goals in this league, so why is it being used in a negative way that he scored freely in Europe?

If his goal ratio levels off a 1 in 2 record is still extremely good, better than we've had for a long long time.

True, but even if he increases his league ratio next season, his hold up play needs to improve dramatically.

Having one player score 15 goals won't be much help if his poor ball retention stops the rest of the team getting forward.
