Over the summer I doubt our goalkeeping options but Stekelenburg shows so much calmness and I feel so confident with him in goal. Keep it up, number 1!

Tbf that free kick was pathetic. Lofted over the wall at snails pace and safely into the goalkeeper's arms.2 occasions last night I said to myself 'that's in'. First was Kone's free header from a corner. Stekelenburg just caught it with ease. Second was Khazri's free kick in the second half, he got it over the wall and on target but again Stekelenburg just caught it. I've got so used to any shot on target just automatically going in. Howard's positioning on free kicks was shocking and he seemed to fall over under any pressure on crosses. Stekelenburg is just making the basics of goal keeping look easy as they should be.
You know what's boss about Stekelenburg? The fact that people aren't flooding in here to talk about Stekelenburg. Remember the Howard thread all too well. A quiet goalkeeper thread is a good goalkeeper thread. Keep it up Maarten.

The Kone header I was slightly concerned about, mind, but wasn't in the corner, was straight at the keeper.
At no stage did I genuinely feel like one of their efforts would fly in.

True, haha. At least it's all just a distant memory. Stekelenberg would be our modern-day Nigel Martyn.I've got too used to Howard, as soon as a free kick beats the wall I tend to think it's in. Check out Gerrard's in the Jagielka derby, it's practically in the middle of the goal but still went in.
Its quite fun to compare his start to his Everton career with Joe Hart and that bloke City have now.
A bit like you, mate. You go under the radar sometimes but I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate you. X
