This was purely a stunt to get people onto skybet to throw money on it. Sky are no longer the in the knows they simply throw stories out there at times purely to get punters to put money on it

I think SKY are probably correct ... that is not to say we will sign the player. As has already been pointed out we have not spoken to the club, probably not fully decided that Malcolm is a priority target, but we do know if he would consider a move to Everton and we know the cost of wages, signing on fees and agent fees... all agreed with the agent representing the player.
I expect we know as much about a dozen other potential targets... including Tierney.

Agents sometimes contact the media to create a market for their players and maybe to try to attract a big CL club, we may follow up our interest or we may not I think the delay is while Silva/Brands are assessing our squad and in particular our younger players. Some clubs won't want to sell but at the very least are trying to bring their own replacements in first.

Anybody who thinks we draw up a list of three or four playersthat we want , that we first approach the club to do a deal and then talk to the player and his agent do not understand how modern football operates.
 

The arrival of a new manager and a new dof means that we have no idea how they choose to operate , if they release information and who it is released to.
The sale of Funes Mori was announced unexpectedly, ironically as stories of a transfer to Boro were beginning to spread.

I don't believe any of the local media know what is happening and I think the stories beginning to come from Europe relate to players that we have at least asked about such as Minna, Malcolm and others.
But, enquiring about and bidding for are a long way apart.

No need to be so anal about this. I was only asking a question.

I think it’s been ‘proven’ that this rumour is nonsense and therefore the thread should be closed.
