It seemed to happen every time.
I saw the 62/63 team, which then tailed off apart from the Cup in 66.
The 69/70 team was superb, but again tailed off rather quickly.
After 86/87, ditto.
Here's another pic I took. 23rd May 1985. 1-0 win in an evening game against the RS. Wark the walrus missed a pen. Those six had many a tussle on the pitch. Stevens, Mountfield, Ratcliffe and Bailey, against Dalgleish & Rush.

How frustrating to win the League in 69/70 and have high expectations for coming decade, only to have to wait fifteen or so seasons to win it again We really don't appear to know how to set the foundation to build on any success we have.
