According to a lot of players to have played alongside him, he was a great club captain, more so than perhaps the on pitch captain, went out of his way for every player, and led by example, first in, last out and all that. Did the role of club captain very well, perhaps not the PR man you'd want, but then that's why we have a PR department, his job as club captain is to keep the players together in the dressing room, keep them fired up, and help make sure players were happy...
