Watching the replay on FSC tonight and just showed the tackle. Pretty bad and Carrick's lucky he wasn't seriously hurt. They can appeal it but that one won't be overturned.

i dont think theyll risk an appeal because stevie g will get a longer ban, as it will appear frivolous to appeal such an awful tackle

ITV seemed to take Gobshoites side, saying it wasn't that bad, watch out in the next charity game Townsend, just check that Keane or Vincent Jones isn't on the other side cos basically you've advocated that kind of 'tackle'*.

Shocking challenge by Gerrard yesterday. I don't like it when two feet go in and the player pulls the angry "i'm gonna stamp on you" face. Bad stuff from a good footballer.

I'm glad he got sent off for that challenge, as it sets a standard for referees with regards to 'big name' players. People seemed to be shocked "oh my...Gerrard has been sent off", I personally think any one of the 22 on the field should of been sent off if they commited such a bad tackle. All players should be treated equally.

So nice to see a bit of rough justice.

No idea what possessed him to go in so aggressively on Carrick though.

I think the one Rafael did (fairly) on Meireles not long before, dude

There is sometimes a line on what's fair and what's a red card. Rafaels looked like it could be nasty, but I think it was spot on. Fellaini makes me have a heart attack every time he gets a 50/50

Rafael's might have been nasty but Meireles did chicken out of it.

It is about time some one caught up with this dirty excuse of a player, got away with this and his diving all these years because he played for England and no one wanted to upset the apple cart.
