lollolHe’d still get a start at CB at the moment I reckon
Thing is it has become very transactional. Unless you bring someone through the ranks, they have no club affiliation. Even then the better ones will want to sign for the top teams. However if you could build a solid core of the team 7-8 domestic players in the first 11, I think it would make a difference. How times have changed.
Rafael is the best manager we could attract ... I never thought I’d see the day when I Woild actually want him here
I live in Newcastle and have been to watch them a few times this season and Rafael is not what we need. Yes they beat Man City but the football they play is boring and he just sets them up not to get beat even against teams at the lower end of the table. I think brands has got to pick the next manger not necessarily someone he has worked with before....family still lives local but there is too much baggage with that appointment. I just can’t see it happening.
I’d be more inclined to consider a manager Brands has worked successfully with before.
As maybe some of you know, I'm not biggest fan of Marco Silva, so I compiled a list of managers who are imo attainable by a club of our size and have better credentials than our current manager. I divided them by countries they're currently managing and there is a list of unemployed ones as well. There are lot of suggestions in other threads, so it would be better to keep it in one place.
PS I tried to keep it realistic so I didn't put the usual suspects like Mourinho, Blanc or Conte here as there's no way we could attract them. Moyes didn't make it as well
Unemployed
Julen Lopetegui (last managed Real Madrid)
Peter Stoger (Borussia Dortmund)

Eddie Howe (Bournemouth)
Rafael Benitez (Newcastle)
Marcelo Bielsa (Leeds)
France
Christophe Galtier (Lille)
Bruno Genesio (Lyon)
Thierry Laurey (Strasbourg) - impressive work with Strasbourg, he promoted them to Ligue 1 and they're sitting on 5th place with a League Cup final to follow.

Marcelino (Valencia)
Quique Setien (Betis)

Spurs have spent a fortune! The Rafael shouts make me vomit, they really do, not a chance I would ever step foot in Goodison if he was appointed.
Newcastle are 15th for Gods sake.
The Eddie Howe shouts are just as bad, the fella has his team 10th, BELOW us in the table and dont give me bolloxs about money, if he was a good manager he wouldnt need money. Look at Spurs.
Unfortunately we aren’t going to attract these type of managers.Fonesca doesn't have a world class track record!!
If we hire him - you and all the other 'fans' will be slagging him off within 6 months and crying for the axe once we go through a rough patch
It has to be someone who's won top leagues, seasoned in Champions League etc
As I said in a previous post on another thread, why not include names like Mourinho, Conte, Blanc, Zidane, Simeone and Mancini. If we want to be the best club we can be we need to get these type of managers. If we don`t approach them we will never get them. I think you should include Paolo Fonseca aswell.
Oh yeah - the Howe no money thing is a total myth.
