17 points out of 21 have brought some credibility to a season and may take some of the initial edge off the forthcoming mandatory summer of discontent.

Blackburn were utter cack and from looking at the general mood of their fans I shouldn't imagine it's too long before the usual protest movement comes to a cheap plasma screen near you. Venky's always had a whiff of tits about them from the offset, but I clearly remember them beauts pretending to be blasé about visiting Wembley for the Charity Shield in 1996 so I consider it korma (sic).

We've looked miles better since we've had a few prominent lids out injured as it's seemingly had a galvanising effect on the team with a few of the fringe players having to step up. Without wanting to put a dampener of it, we have played some sh*te teams in that spell so this weekend's game should be a better yardstick to see if we're suddenly ace again.

United will be smarting somewhat from being dumped out of the FA Cup semi final by the bad scruffs they share a city with. Deserved too, once City clicked in gear they had United on the back foot. You'd guess they'll be a different proposition at Old Trafford on the back of that result and chasing a historic 19th league title.

Rooney returns from his two match ban for being a bit of a prick and kicking off at a cameraman. He's been in good form lately so will have to be watched closely. Nani, who looks like a Pontins Michael Jackson tribute, has trouble staying on his feet but really makes them tick this season. He's a huge creative influence and Hibbert will need to be at his annoying best to contain him.

There may be an enforced change this week with Heitinga's hamstring seemingly going. I thought Rodwell done well and used the ball well when he came on so he's likely to start. The only other changes may be on the flanks. Arteta is expected to be fit for this game and Coleman will have a week's training under him. They importantly have a bit more snide in their tackle which will come in useful in the wide areas at Old Trafford. It's often levelled that Osman fails to show in the big games (although he was excellent in some big games last year), we'll need him continuing his recent form for this.

Not so long ago this fixture would have been as welcome as two men necking in a Soho pub. There's permutations of Europe flying around everywhere with City in the FA Cup Final and allegations of Birmingham's financial position being dire. Sack that and keep up doing what were doing, just one game at a time blues.

Its the Sh*te teams we've struggled against previously so its good to see that we've been finally dishing out deserved thumpings to the trogs, thugs and has beens over recent weeks. The romantic in me would love to see us go again with what we had yesterday adding Rodders for Tinga to see if he can inflate his fee and bringin Mikel and Seamus off the Dame Judi to mix it up later in the game. Distin will have Berb in his steely gaze, however I fear the same for Beckford from Vidic (its only a song Jermaine, he won't really.....)

Also would be fab to hear a 'four sides of the ground' chorus of Phil Neville Superstar, I'm sure them Red Devils will recognise the common good.

United will have three games in 7 days: Newcastle (Tues), Everton (Sat) and Schalke (Tues). You'd imagine that he'd rest key players before the Champion's League semi. The obvious ones to leave out would be Nani, Rooney and Berbatov. Presumably Scholes will now be serving a three match ban? I'm not actually too worried about them, whichever side they put out. They have a few matchwinners but, on the whole, they're very average. City showed today that they'll go into their shell if you get stuck in to them. They won't be relishing facing us after the way we came back at them earlier in the season and the way we've performed against them in the league and cup over the last few seasons.

Ideally we'll be able to include Cahill and Arteta on the bench as a reminder to the likes of Rodwell and Bily that they're playing to impress and to keep hold of the shirt. I can see us getting something out of the game. Even with our 'b' team, I don't think there's any one in the league that we should fear.

Don't fancy us getting anything here, to be honest. Man U are a lot better than people give them credit for and they've been incredible at home (Their home record in all competitions this year is played 25, won 22, drawn 3 and lost 0 and in the league its played 16, won 15, drawn 1).

Be nice if we could play a midfield 3 of Neville-Osman-Rodwell with Arteta and Coleman/Gueye on the wings, though. I like the look of that team.

I would love to see this:

Howard

Hibbert - Jagielka - Distin - Baines

Coleman - - - - - Neville - - - - - Gueye

Bilyaletdinov - - - - Osman

Beckford

Still have a defensive midfielder, and 2 wingers which will get back and help out, have Osman and Bily behind the striker, both able to take on players, find space and shoot on their right foots, and maybe playing this formation will stop the defence hoofing it up to Beckford, and use Osman and Bily to pass the ball to him

I'm gonna do a formation thing, despite not liking them very much. We should play this:

Howard

Hibbert - Jagielka - Distin - Baines
Neville
Coleman - Rodwell - Arteta
Osman
Beckford

If Arteta is still crocked then put Gueye there.

As Artetafan rightfully pointed out though, it will be an achievement getting a point itself with their record there this season. They're excellent at home.

dreams of Beardsley, Warzycha & Johnston*

We need quality passers to play really, we need to just set Beckford loose with a through ball etc...

...i wish Arteta was back, but then again i think we would profit more from Gueye and Bily playing, seeing as both are match fit, and both are building in confidence - especially Gueye

Love to see Vellios feature too, from what ive seen he looks good, wanted to see more of him against Blackburn tbh, and without Cahill, we need some height in the box

Should we beat them, i hope Arsenal fk up also,,, otherwise the red shoite will be fapping themselves silly. Need utd to take that 19th title and shut those fckers up once and for all!!

Great write up,always funny reading them,i would be very happy if somehow we were to take a point that i would take right now,i think man utd will rest some players as above one been rooney i think, but the squad they have is still strong, this is a game a lot of everton fans probably think we will lose if your honest me been one of them, but as said will be happy with a draw.

Was gonna go to this, but it's an early one, it's on the box, and I am spending the money on going to the San Siro to see AC Milans last game of the season instead, and it's considerably cheaper than what those robbin' gets up the East Lancs want to get in, and also Lego's DW Stadium for that matter as well.
