Zidane when he sees Maguire's first training session in a high line and he watches how tragic McFred are when he had the majestic Modric and Kroos

Never happening anyway, he hasn't left Madrid since summer 2000 (his Madrid born Wife) and he'll still be living in Madrid when he's French manager, plus Zidane's English is non existent, English media creating a non story because Penaldo is there who'll be 37 next year.

He's the French Manager Febuary 2023.

Zidane is not going, he's got the French job after Qatar world cup in 13 months time when Deschamps contract ends, and he will have the best chance to win a World Cup with a ridiculous batch of talent, plus his Spanish Wife won't leave Madrid in a cat's hells chance for Manchester according to reports in Spain this week.

Not sure why the English are doing reports of Zidane going there when he's the next French Manager.

Looks like he may well go.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure it's a good appointment. Obviously what he did at Real Madrid was outstanding, but it is Real Madrid. United are in a far bigger mess.

I thought Conte would have been a decent fit. I know you like Rodgers, but I'm not sure the job is not a bit too big for him (as Liverpool proved to be).

I honestly think Ancelotti would be perfect for them. Funny old world. Employing someone based primarily on their playing career is often quite flawed though!

Signing Ronaldo is what has sealed Solskjaer's fate. There's a saying of "you can subtract by adding" and this has been a textbook example of that.

Not that this mess they're in is Cristiano's fault, he's scored some important goals since coming back and has never downed tools on any manager, he's got too much pride for that. Just cramming him into their starting XI has forced them to drop their counter-attacking style which served them pretty well, now that they're having more of the possession in matches they're passengers are being exposed (Fred, Pogba, Wan-Bissaka, sometimes McTominay and Rashford too). The person who's been exposed most though is the manager, tactically he's weak and his game management is laughably bad. Very ironic that the player whom fought hardest for him today was Van De Beek, someone he's treated like a piece of dirt since the lad got there.

If Ronaldo has stayed at Juve or went to PSG then United would still be doing what they've been doing the last few seasons and probably be in the top 4 right now, and in that scenario OGS wouldn't be under pressure if any at all. Just they signed CR7 purely to stop City getting ahold of him and didn't think about how it cause a seismic change in their play. A better manager will come in and get some results quickly, all it will take is a few tweeks and the ability to spot something obvious mid-game, Solskjaer though won't work in the PL again. You don't have to be particularly great to get another gig but if you're solid enough, or at least have the connections/image, then a team fearing relegation might throw you a bone mid-season (look at Smith, Howe, Ranieri, etc.). Just Ole's not done anything impressive outside that initial bounce he brought and has cheerleaders in the media outside his old-teammates. He'll go abroad again and be forgotten about.

I think it's a really good post.

What I would add, is the expectation seemed to rise exponentially when Ronaldo came too. Like if he didnt arrive, I'm honestly not sure he gets sacked. Maybe the frustrations is put to the Glaziers. But he just elevated what they were expected to do, to a level far beyond OGS capability.

Literally no idea who they are gonna get in.

A bloated overpaid squad of players, half of which either don't look like they want to be there and the other half are nowhere near as good as the tens of millions they paid for them suggest.
Parallels with us really post Koeman (And ever since) lol

Not entirely sure if Zidane has the relevant experience to turn it around (If there is any truth to the rumours)
Yes Real Madrid are an enormous club, so the pressure shouldn't phase him, but Real haven't finished outside the top 5 of La Liga since 1977.
Keeping a ship on it's well directed course is a lot different from having to turn the whole thing around whilst lashing half of the crew overboard in the process.

Time will tell I suppose.
