Purely a business decision that makes zero footballing sense when it requires pushing Sandro out of position and hindering his development to accommodate it. It's like buying a brand-new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and then retooling it right away. You would never do this.

It went down the way it did because of timing. They might have spent the funds spent on Sandro much more productively (ie: fix the leaky defense) had Ronaldo been available earlier in the window.

How many of Ronaldo's goals would have been snapped up by someone else if he had not been signed? Claiming that his presence added that many goals to a side with that many attacking options is probably not correct. Did he add goals? Probably. Did he add fourteen across those competitions? I doubt it.

I don't even know that the CL goals matter that much. If you're coughing up eight in six to Atalanta, Villareal and Young Boys, you are screwed in the CL knockout rounds. The goals may be a decent return on investment as footballers go, in terms of revenue raised from qualification against expenditures.

Yeah while Sancho and Greenwood have regressed.

Greenwood was the defacto #9 at the end of the season, natural as a finisher you will see, now he's either on the bench or shoehorned on the right and his game has regressed.

Sancho looking like a flop of the magnitude of Pogba and Maguire, he has 1 goal and 1 assist to his name this season.

Rashford the less said the better, he looks finished.

Ronaldo a 37 year old is scoring against relegation fodder and nothing teams in CL as the teams scrapes through in a weak CL group, screams of Juventus last season, just as Buffon recently said Ronaldo ruined the team in Turin, it's all about adapting the whole team to his needs while neglecting the rest of the team and tactics to beat the opposition, Juve regressed and United are doing the same for a guy approaching 40 years old.

They had a way of playing that was quite effective. Were probably a couple of signings in the right areas away from being consistently good. Solskjaer gets a lot of flack, but he got them playing their best football in years with a young and attacking squad.

Ronaldo is obviously one of the greatest to ever do it, but he has no place in a team like that. Cavani or Fernandes probably would've got those 8 goals in 16 by now.

They're like Everton, but the bigger budget Hollywood version with more explosions.

Indeed - that forward line of Martial, Greenwood and Rashford should have been what the side was built around, but instead they’ve dismantled it

I love watching him play.

He gives people hope that you could be a professional footballer and earn loads of dough while have no footballing talent.

Amazing that he started out as a winger in the Palace Academy haha.

Bissaka, Iwobe, Pepe are the epitome of players today absolutely stealing a living.
