As for people saying report it to the police, how do you know she hasnt? Maybe she has and they didnt do anything. Maybe Utd tried to pressure her to keep secret as he's a multi million pound asset.

If its been going on that long and she's only just released it, it suggests to me that she doesnt feel there is any other option or she thinks he's being protected

Yep. Who in their right mind gives a bollock about the player and the club? This is all about the well-being of the girl now. She’s most likely been terrified for months, maybe even years. Fair play to her for having the bravery to do this.

Yes, it is not an excuse at all. It is just context that may be raised at some point during this upcoming story. I am sure it will be mentioned that MG has been going through a difficult time long before this.

I do not expect he will. What “should” happen is very different I think we all agree, but the courts will decide. I think he will be punished in other ways and will need to leave the country for a while.

Just to clarify, do you not think having evidence is a good thing? I've worked with a Dr falsely accused of assault and it took them years before they could clear their name and work, I've worked, and been friends with women who have been raped and abused, I've had to admit women to hospital on the grounds of protection before, I've also documented injuries, reported to the authorities women who have clearly been trafficked.
Very little gets to the CPS, let alone justice.

This what happens with all domestic absusers and rapists then? They all just head off to Spain and a new job? Or just because he's a footballer?

I think the brevity and reference to Instagram without comment on the deed, plus the quote marks around 'evidence' made it read badly. I certainly read it negatively.

I'm not convinced now that you meant it the way it sounded.

I believe a player was arrested last year and interviewed

It absolutely will. And because he’s a public figure with a lot of fans he will get a lot of sympathy.

I just don’t think sexual assault and rape is taken anywhere near as seriously enough as it should be in this country. The rate of convictions under the tories is heinous.

If that is what happened then the responsible people at both need to be looked into criminally, but the point still stands - for Greenwood to get the justice the rest of us would get for doing an act as heinous as this, the justice that that sort of thing deserves, it is only the police and the courts that can deliver that.

Just putting it on IG isn't by itself going to do anything apart from cause a media furore - indeed its his status as a multi million pound asset that is what makes the furore; if it was one of us noone would give two figs.
 
Seen this tweet, so maybe the club did know about it a while ago, that post specifically mentions domestic. Reference to a Liverpool player too

Of course clubs protect assets.
