Exactly Legs.

If people even try to propose that she's in some way to blame, they're dangerous. I've seen some even saying it's not rape if they're in a relationship

Rape is rape - end of.
Tbh was actually encouraged by the number of people in the thread mentioning consent - I don’t think that would have been the case even ten years ago.

He is very young so I think he will play again, but not for Man Utd. International career is over. It will be too hard for him in England. Elsewhere, it is more forgiving.

He has too much talent to fall away, but he may have to take some steps down to come back, I think,
Sorry, but bullsh1t
Give your head a wobble.
If he is guilty of this, nobody is touching him. No matter his talent. He will be a convicted rapist and abuser.
He won't be coming back from that.
He has money and will.probs make some investments quick smart to set himself up.for in 5-10 years or so when he gets out. But he is done on a football pitch. As he should be.

I'm still confused how the media are allowed to print his name but our player who isn't allowed to be named still isn't allowed to be named despite similar circumstances ?
I would imagine it is how it came out.
Police were not involved when it became known. So nothing to legally stop his name being mentioned.

Until this afternoon Greenwood hadn’t been arrested, our one had been arrested before it ever came out IIRC.

What a very strange thing for her father to come out and say...

It isn’t, if anything it reads like the conflicted dad of someone suffering domestic abuse who is themselves conflicted over what to do.

We all think “well if that was my kid then I’d smash the partners face in” and do the thing everyone expects a dad to do but what do you do if your kid wants to stay with that person, wants to have a life with them, or wants to protect them from the consequences of their actions?

All you can really do is support them, protect them when they ask and hope they make the right decision in the end, which that statement reads like to me.

Add in surprise, stress, unfamiliarity with talking to press and I can easily see how it comes out weird.

Also it presumably was answers to questions (that weren’t printed) rather than a statement workshopped with a lawyer.

I mean the "we've known him since under 21's" and "They were very much in love" bits.
Just seems odd to even acknowledge tbh. ?‍♂️

Good post, mate.

The first bit yes, but the second bit is why this (and loads of other) domestic abuse never gets reported / never ends in a conviction*.

edit: not that I think this shouldn't have been reported or end up in court if hes charged

Just breaking on BBC news website.

A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault after Manchester United suspended footballer Mason Greenwood following allegations on social media.
Greater Manchester Police said it was made aware of "social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence".
It added "we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault".
He remains in custody.
