If the recordings are real then he's well knackered. Poor girl has done well to get evidence.
 
Why is it the press can openly name him but for other people they can’t? I thought they could only be named once they were being charged with something or am I massively wrong on that?

I was talking about the fact that they were discussing who the mother(s) of Ronaldo's children was/were. It was meant as a comment on how far are people going to go, in this thread, on commenting on other players activities, especially stuff that happened over 10 years ago that has nothing to do with the current situation.

I think calling one person a name, based on the evidence given so far, is not going down a rabbit hole. That was my only comment on the subject, so I am fairly certain I am nowhere near any rabbit hole.
 
If the girl has that one audio clip you can guarantee she has plenty of others, and possibly even video to go along with it. Quite likely, due to it being an abusive relationship on his behalf, he'll have left her a string of violent and threatening text messages which will act as lovely evidence against him, and who knows what the police will find on the home's security cameras. At this point you'd imagine he's rather screwed, but he's an incredibly rich and privileged lad and has the money and fame to fight it. Very sad that United knew all about this and stuck with him regardless.

For her to want to get the evidence, you’d have to think this wasn’t an isolated incident and it’s happened in the past.

For me, I have to hope he gets everything he deserves cause no one should ever have to go through what that girl has.

If the message goes out that players like Greenwood and Mendy aren’t as untouchable as they think, hopefully it will stop other young lads and footballers doing similar.

Where have you seen evidence of that?

Prior to a charge the media can pretty much do anything they want, however after charge rules kick in (which they've still breached in the past mind) and obviously bearing in mind libel laws and what the cops have told them (note that GMP haven't ever said that its Greenwood they have in custody, just that its a 20 year old man from wherever).

I think with this case it was the way it came out, on social media first and then the arrest was one of the last stages so naming him wasn't even a debate - it had already happened.

That`s the very real danger of stuff on social media.

It can create real problems with regards to " fairness " and " bias " pre trial.

Any defence brief would be all over the social media stuff for prior to trial.
 
I worry the way that this has all happened on social media may save him. Police generally do not release people on bail without charging them when there is strong evidence.

This suggests there is not sufficient evidence to charge him. Investigations will continue, I guess, but there could be a future where this does not result in a prosecution.
