Unlike others, I wasn't being dismissive of Martínez due to his height because there's been some good centre backs who haven't been the tallest.

Let me say that up to now, I was wrong. He looks out of his depth, literally and metaphorically, and a team that's in a mess isn't going to help him settle.

On one hand, you can say he's quick and eager to close down, but his reading of the game came across as poor with him being out of position far too often.

I've re-watched the highlights and the third goal is embarrassing: it was far too easy for Ben Mee to win a ball that Martinez has the opportunity to get.

People always say uts too early write a player off after 2 or 3 games and 9 times out 10 that's correct. But the lad just looks totally out of his depth and fundamentally a bad fit for English football. I will be astonished if he becomes a good defender in this league.
