Not sure. He gets an awful lot of criticism from the Ajax fans, but tbf to him they see him as the one who does the finances and controls the cheque book, when he merely idetifies the players. He got some wrong ones, but hey working in the Dutch League with the restricted financial possibilities and low appeal, you have to give him some credit imo. Guess and confident it will be a whole different ballgame at Everton with Sky's and Moshiri's backing.

Be interesting if emery is happy with this. I wonder in our discussions with him if he has embraced the idea of working with overmars. He has an excellent working relationship with the DOF at Sevilla, so maybe he isn't against working under a DOF.

I am pretty sure I read he enjoys working under a DOF so he has full control of coaching, tactics, etc..

They will have discussed working under a DOF, likely Overmars and if he's positive about that, a move has to be made to bring them in.

What a player. A fantasy football must have. Interesting choice, surely means De Boer would follow if so

I can remember when David Seaman had the longest throw in football

He could throw it to Thierry Henry...Overmars...

Jeez, Alio

Can't see a thread on this fella, please move if you need to mods..............Thoughts on him blues?all I know is he regularly ripped us a new one in his Arsenal days and has been in this role for a few years at Ajax,Moshiri and Overmars bit of an Arsenal connection, hmmmm.
Dont know. I could be wrong but I dont think Ferguson, Wenger or any of the more succesful Managers in the prem had/have one. Until I saw it in action for a couple of years would not offer an opinion. Dont they frequently choose the players and the manager is just a coach?

Much better to have a DoF that had a very decent playing career as it can only help in negotiations with players. Too many in that role at other clubs are complete non-entities who think they know it all.
If Overmars joins we are getting someone with great experience already in the role which would help enormously in bedding down the structure needed at Everton to make it a success.
Credit to Moshiri for identifying the need for this. I'm all for it.

I've heard he could lob Seaman over yer ma.
Thread bans self.

Surely if Overmars signs as DOF it means de boer is a certainty for manager?

I've heard a number of managers don't like having a DOF, because it means they don't have control over who is signed and often are referred to as "head coach", rather than manager.

I'm not 100% convinced that that system of DOF works. Any system where the manager of the first team doesn't have the casting vote on if a player is signed or not for the first team, is never going to end well.

Whereas if the DOF is there to focus on the youth teams and support the manager, then I am sure it can work.

Guys, I am not sure if there is any English information about it, but google 'fluwelen revolutie' and use translate to get a bit of background on what Overmars has been doing at Ajax for the past few years. He's been one of the major players in a reformation of the club set in motion by Johan Cruijff back in 2010. I think a lot of the things they've done there could be very instructive to us. I am 100% behind this appointment as we are in a period of great changes and it would be immensely helpful to have a technical director who has overseen such an overhaul of a club before.

Yes, and it's important to note that he's not exactly the director of football over there. He's part of the "technische hart" and has influence over transfer dealings amd the academy, but not total control.
