People think it’s as simple as saying ‘let’s get this player or that player’ and boom it gets done in a matter of moments, it doesn’t work like that. You have to factor in 3 key areas 1) is player X available, 2) is he affordable to the club’s transfer and wage budgets and 3) is he a good fit for what we need in the team.

If the answer to 1 and 3 is yes then you negotiate 2 which could take days or weeks, look at United, they’ve been trying to sign Fernandes all month and only now look like finally agreeing a deal. By all accounts we’ve been doing the same with Vecino for the past 2 weeks but Inter have seemingly moved the goalposts at the last moment
