This year’s Jack Rodwell for me. Mourinho saw right through him. Pace power technique but none of whatever you need between the ears to play for a top team. We’ve had enough midfielders running around with no clue what they’re doing recently.

what age was he when managed by mourinho, 19, 20? thats why mourinho cant develop yoof!

I get the feeling that anyone who’s at Finch Farm just there for the ride and not taking their job seriously won’t last 5 minutes under this fella.

The 100m reported is as always pie in the sky. No club in the world has a set transfer kitty. They have targets in mind and limits they can spend of course.

We will probably have to take a hit on most sales this summer, but considering the wages some of them are on for contributing very little from an accounting POV, we might even show a profit on a few.

We will see mate, i have concerns, id be happy with two to three of right quality if im honest, so i hope your flexible budget comes off i hope you are right, with that we need a few to step up next season to. Not convinced if i'm honest.

I would confess to be slightly won over the role, despite initial concerns, i think it depends on the role and how much power you want to delegate. I agree to an extent that i would like the manager dictating signings etc. But there is a role in managing the clubs assets and maximising their value and development. For all Walsh's faults and he messed up first team recruitment much, he really did some good work getting fees in for deadwood like Cleverley, Oviedo, Gibson and the like and clearing the wage bill. He got loan fees in and put players to work elsewhere maximising them as assets but also developing and raising their profiles in whatever standard they were playing. That in itsself is a source of revenue.

Additionally you have to get it right once. If Lookman for example goes on to be worth 50 mill in the years ahead, it goes a long way to justifying the role and approach.

It does however feel that Brands is being brought in with a lot of power, more so then Walsh, will be interesting to see the impact, in some ways DOF's seem to get a free ride, its always the manager who takes ultimate responsibility, perhaps the best job in football at the moment.
You dont need a DoF to buy with vision and sell at top dollar: we had Moyes and to a different degree Martinez who did that in conjunction with the chairman.

The big reason to go with a DoF is usually argued to be continuity in style and method in terms of the identity of the team. Yes, that's an undoubted plus, but there's no reason it cant be done without a DoF. Look at the way Swansea under chairman Huw Jenkins' control hired managers of a similar ilk to maintain the style of the club when they were going up the leagues and consolidating in the PL.

The big issue for me with a DoF (and we saw this in spades with Walsh/Koeman) is that it breeds a culture were no one takes responsibility for the actions on the pitch. Manager and DoF invariably in a crisis spin against each other to friendly journos and the whole thing becomes a mess.

I can’t see anybody getting a free ride under Moshiri.
He may give Brands 3 years but if he’s not producing the goods at that stage he will be gone as well

As to your first paragraph a few lads want to say hello
Aidan McGeady
Kone
Alcaraz
Robles
McCarthy I think that’s what they said their names were lol

He’d love barkleys stats at the same age. Goals, assists, creating chances, key passes. Ross smashes him out of sight

Let me see
One good game for England ✅
Plays for a London media darling team ✅
Can't really compare the stats though seeing as Ross has played a lot more football up until now because he played for a crapper team. Just watching them anyone can tell rlc is a lot more of a finished article than Ross will ever be

technically better and has a brain to match it.

loftus-cheek has been one of the best under 21England stars too.

vast improvement on any of our starting midfielders

makes you wonder why Chelsea loand these sorts out or even sell them like chalobar, and then sign English turds like drinkwater and barkley ??

doesn't add up
