Jury out for me.

Ill assess after a couple of windows when a real straegy emerges, Silvas fingers all over our signings this window, in my opinion im not saying im right thats just my opinion that im speculating on.

The more i think of it the more, im questioning what we actually did this window, we have three loan signings (i consider Yerry a loan), a free and Rico and Dinge. Im not saying that is bad and its very possible that was decent given the limits imposed of us by cash flow in the business. But there is a lack of permanence to some of it and maybe an arguement that we have built a bit of quicksand.

The outgoing have been more impressive for me.

Im open minded though, but way off anointing this lid as some kind of Guru.

Except, Bernard, Rico and Mina are actually permanents.

Gomes and Zouma on loan, if they prove their worth then we sign them next season.

Impressed with the outs although there's a lot of loans going on. Could've been simpler if a few more were permanent but hopefully they earn that from their respective loans.

It depends what you expected of him, I set these targets at the start of the season :

1 Back up GK
1 starting LB
1 starting CB at least
1 DM/CM
2 Widers
1 ST at the very min

Hes done almost all that and hes shifted 20 odd players from the squad, I honestly didnt expect him to do all that in 1 window and here we are.

I mean sure you seem to have a negative slant on some of the loans, but for me its about this season and this season he has got us a squad able to compete, so I consider the man a God.

Is right, mate. It's the coronation of a man who's efforts are yet to be seen to bear fruit yet.

People want heroes, I understand that. However, heroism is usually conferred from deeds.

Also, the whole 'Dinge' thing is already annoying me more than Iceland ever did...

I get the scepticism. I have a question for you though.

What the hell did this man have to do for you to say he’d made an impressive start to his role here?

If you consider Yerry to be a loan, I assume every transfer in is considered a loan in some form to you - therefore that point is pointless.

What I find interesting about this kinda thing is that people are always looking for *the* person responsible for things. Like it’s brands or Silva or whoever.

When in reality what we seeing is the result of the sum of all parts. They (silva, brands and the wider team) are all responsible for what we are seeing.

It’s way too early to appraise the season fully but I don’t think it’s a stretch to be optimistic about the things we have seen so far. The football *seems* to have improved (albeit with the obvious deficiencies still there - but we all knew these would take time), they’ve managed to shift quite a few players that didn’t really feature (or at least we wouldn’t want to feature again) and the whole atmosphere around the club and fans has shifted in the right direction.

Yeah, it’s important to be realistic and not get too carried away but I think the fact that the fans (well most of them....) seem to be enjoying Everton again says a lot about the start that has been made to the new regime.

I’d say just enjoy it while you can. Otherwise what’s the point?

The squad was a total mess.

Lots of has beens and never have beens, claiming massive wages for very little output.

It will take years to fully rectify. The amount of dead wood who are on loans and not permanent deals, indicates the bumper contracts individuals received that are unbefitting of their abilities.

We have cleared space, brought in a handful of upgrades and appear to have a much clearer plan of where the club wants to go.

Very early days but it certainly looks better than recent seasons.

Bloody hell Neil.

Obviously until signings prove themselves then we can’t really say much but much of these signings have came with decent pedigree and more importantly we’re players that needed convincing from Brands/Silva and were.

Couple that with all the shipping of deadwood then I can’t see how you can’t be positive about this first window.

Perhaps people are going a bit overboard with praise but objectively you have to say it’s been a very good window for us.

A loan lol

I agree we should be cautious to build people up to be almost mythical, before anything concrete has been achieved.

But as beginnings go, I am mostly impressed with what Brands has been able to orchestrate. He hasn’t achieved anything yet.

I like the coherency of transfer policy to date. Key areas strengthened, average age reduced, numbers culled, and the co-ordination to pull off what was on paper at least, a very successful deadline day when you look at the logistics of it.

As initial impressions go, and considering the mass of changes at the club, very low starting base, time pressures, and WC year, you can’t say he hasn’t got stuck in on the clubs behalf.

If we can see a continuance in future windows and a consistently applied strategy emerging, then we have genuine grounds for optimism.
