Obviously not, but that team that went out there against Atalanta away was the most clueless, inept shambles I’ve ever seen in my life. Any Everton team from the 90s would have battered that side that day.

Edit: wrong post I thought you were replying to. But yeah he’s the worst I’ve ever seen by a landslide.
Agreed. It was the worst performance I’ve ever seen from a team and mind you I watch a lot of polish league.

That period was as low as the Mike Walker mess. Yes we had some tough league fixtures, but the side was a total mess and the Europa League games where a disgrace.

The Atlanta humiliation.
Williams causing a punchup in the defeat to Lyon.
Drawing with cypriot nomarks. Who had 10 men. (Klaassen was utterly abysmal in that game).

I am thankful to be where we are now.
That season was one of complete shellshock.

That was the most pathetic attempt at a European competition I have ever seen from any everton side ever, yes we have been poor in knock out competition's, but we had several games to improve but we were totally hopeless over 6 games against a bunch of very average to useless teams, really should qualify out of that group every time.

Tbf Atalanta are in the Champions league while we're not even in the Europa. They crushed because they're better.

We hold the record for the worst Europa League outing by a British side because of that. What an utterly horrendous season.

The point is clear by now though: when holding Brands up to scrutiny it has to be to a reasonable comparison. And Koemageddon is not that reasonable example.

He's doing no better than Martinez did (as we've established) and any comparison with Moyes would just make him look daft.

As said: Brands = doing ok. That's about it.

...well that’s an improvement on what you said about Brands previously.

Klaasen is the one that sticks most in my craw. A player clearly nowhere the required standard for this league and he handed over £24M to Ajax for him.

There is the distinct whiff of favours being done for old clubs in that transaction.

Some people downgrade Koeman's profligcy and hide it behind criticism of Walsh. Make no mistake, he was the architect of Everton wasting a chance of a generation to get together a competitive team to place pressure on the top four spots.

A fat headed free-loading disgrace.

I agree with this. I think that a lot gets thrown at Walsh but I genuinely think most of the issues transfer wise were Koeman related.

Back to brands though. I do think you are being a little dogmatic in your view Dave. I’m not saying he’s perfect, I do think we need to be a little more balanced and pragmatic as fans but I think it’s difficult to argue the direction of travel. The majority of players signed last season are now fan favourites.

I’m not putting that down to one man, that’s something that us evertonians love to do and it’s a bit misguided. But the footballing operations team (manager, DOF etc) seem to be functioning well and are improving.

I think there is plenty to be positive about. I think the infrastructure we now have in place will slowly move us in the right direction.
