Not signing a CB. We have no depth in the position whatsoever - urgo no competition or even a realistic option to change system to a 3 at the back over a sustainable period of time.
Pinning our hopes of a CF all on Kean while only having DCL/Tosun as alternatives. He tried to rectify this by going for Zaha, but why leave it so late in the window? Goals win games and we haven't got enough in our side.
Selling our best player. I don't care if he wanted to go. It's utter drivel we just rolled over and let PSG have him (after doing the exact opposite originally).
On point 3, that matter has been made worse by three unfortunate injuries (Delph, Gbamin, Gomes) and the manager being utterly dim and trying to play the same way we did with Gana/refusing to use Davies as an alternative to 2 holding midfielders.
I have no doubt Brands is overall an extremely good DoF. I think we have the right man and I do back him.

Yeah im sorry for doubting you Dave, you called this very early, even before he started working here, your insight is 2nd to none.
I was a fool to judge him on signing very good players, hes never bought a single good player for us, he just wastes money.
Hopefully hes sacked very soon and we can retain Silva till the end of time, cos Silva is really doing a great job considering Brands tied his hands behind his back, im hopeful.
Brands = an actual fraud after 12months

In reality his first summer signings were a mixture of decent players and one outstanding player.
My take back then was that he did ok, no more than that. I didn't see through him or claim I did, just that the OTT attitude to him was desperate.
This summer he's moved all over the place: the claim from him that his method was to buy young players not getting their game from good European clubs has been demolished. It's been a dog's breakfast of signings that suggest to me he's going at this ad hoc and without any real plan. The failure to own that CB calamity post-window clinched it for me that we're not dealing with a straight shooter, which many felt he was.
Our two centre backs are having a stinker. But we can't drop either because he never signed us a centre half and stupidly let Jagielka go too.
I know it's sentimentality and my mind is clouded, but seeing Jagielka out there winning everything we chucked in their box and then looking at our two centre halves who let their heads go down in the first half, it makes me pretty sad tbh.
These guys cost 30m each and they aren't fit to lace jagielkas boots. He was 10 times as good as both. I could never imagine him playing so erratically and letting his head go down because we fell behind early on.
I never realised it at the time, but I'd give plenty to have a team like our late noughties side again. Our recruitment over the last 3 or 4 years has ripped the soul out of the club and I can't see any quick fixes. If anything we seem to be intent on compounding our errors with 7 or 8 new players a year. I really hope brands is going to stop this because twice is already too many times. We need quality not quantity. One top player is better than half a dozen decent ones.

You guys are looking at it wrong, its not Brands vs Silva, both must go. Brands for the squad he put together despite having the resources and Silva for the terrible tactics he deploys.
I agree with everything Dave, lets just get him out the door then we can get back to the Title-chasing trophy-winning unit we were until he darkened our doorstep.
Hes signed 14 terrible players, the failure to sign Zouma, who is actually scoring own goals and the failure to buy Zaha who so far hasnt even seen a goal this season is utterly shameful.
