Marcel Brands leaves for Everton
Marcel Brands has informed the Supervisory Board and his colleagues at PSV that he is leaving for Everton. The technical manager chooses for a new challenge in the Premier League after eight seasons in Eindhoven on 1 June. "It is a very difficult decision, but I think this is a good step at the right time", Brands responds.
Persuasion
Despite the fact that Brands leaves with a full conviction to the 'blue part' of Liverpool, he has also seriously considered a longer stay at PSV. "I have a great time here and PSV has given me the choice to make some years of it", explains Brands. "It's really hard to let go of something that's good, but I'm going to do that anyway. In my job, too, the Premier League is of course a great thing. It is the biggest competition in the world in all respects. I now get the chance to do something in my own way. I am really looking forward to that. "
Main role
In the past eight years PSV Brands has played a leading role in the resurrection of PSV as top club. In the first seasons, he contributed with some excellent transfers to strengthening the financial foundation of PSV. In the meantime, Brands built a potential champion team and reformed the technical organization and youth training to international standards. "We have known ups and downs, but as far as I am concerned, the positive events dominate. I look back on my time at PSV with a very satisfied feeling after eight years ", says Brands.

Successes
Three country titles in the last four seasons, an increasingly successful youth training and parallel to those successes a good buying and selling policy are the most tangible proof of Brands' fertile technical policy for the outside world. It is clear that PSV loses a highly appreciated technical manager. The club management has, since the interest in Brands became concrete, immediately mobilized all existing football technical knowledge and experience within the club, to be able to accommodate the departure of Brands in the coming period. "We can fill that in the coming transfer window, because there is a professional organization with clear structures and detailed plans and scenarios," explains managing director Toon Gerbrands. "John de Jong (PSV chief of scouts) and Phillip Cocu (head coach) will introduce technical knowledge in their familiar role. Peter Fossen and I will fulfill our regular roles. In addition, Frank Arnesen, refined in the international football world, will provide us with advice and assistance from the Supervisory Board. Of course, we will miss Marcel as a person and manager. He has been of great value to PSV. Because he worked so meticulously and is incredibly strong organisationally, he leaves behind a strong foundation that we can benefit from for years to come. "
Fantastic work
De Brabander starts in England on 1 June. "Marcel has done a fantastic job for PSV," says PSV President Jan Albers. "Exciting people sooner or later promote promotion in football. That is a known mechanism. The championships of the first team and of the youth teams, like the organization at De Herdgang, are tangible proofs of his excellent performance. "
