2019/20 Marcel Brands

Got about halfway through the article; what a load of wham that is. I'm pretty confident the vast majority of that didn't happen. Sounded out Ancelotti but ended with Allardyce... yeh right.
It looks concocted to me too, but you can see that Brands is a marginalised figure at this club now.

His status is undermined.

Yeh it's one of them. The managerial/player names dropped sound like tosh so I hope the rest of the article is too. However, if it is true then I feel sorry for Brands as he's really not being given the powers his title requires to be successful.

Moshiri shouldn't be picking managers, Ancelotti shouldn't be in charge of transfers. This will end in disaster IMO.

He went along with it...just as he's going along with Ancelotti.

He's supposed to lead, but he's led.

What sort of DoF is that?

It makes Brands job easier, Ancelotti will be able to pull in better players into the club and with a coach who knows what he wants there should be less scatter gun approach.

Once a team is up and running far simpler to identify one player to come in and fill a position than "Christ! We need six or seven here".

It makes his job practically irrelevant.

You still need someone to go off and seal the deals, collate scouting data to report back to the manager and you have to remember Ancelotti will only be here for x amount of years, Brands responsibility in keeping the club at the same level will be key once this era has passed.

That look of Brands over to Ancelotti/Moshiri says it all....

It would be far more effective if there was a redefinition of roles.

Ancelotti identifies the players we should go after.

Brands handles the negotiations.

There is then plenty of scope for Brands to invest more time in ensuring we have a world-class academy structure, from which more players can then progress to the first-team in time.

He could also put some time into sports science and fitness considering we seem prone to a spate of injuries.

Plenty for him to do but let Ancelotti get on with improving the team and squad, organically and with new signings.
