He's not done awful but i'm not exactly convinced he's done well either. Done some things well, done some things poorly.

The squad is a mess though and that is on him. Just because he's had crap to deal with doesn't mean he gets excused for that. Same goes for Carlo when we play crap football. It's their jobs to do better and they're both paid extremely well for it.

Every summer it's the same - we need a rebuild. It's not good enough.

I will add to this though that if we can have another summer like last year then, that's a positive. All of the signings improved us.

The age of the players has to come down, but there can't be any excusing not getting what we need in as it's blatantly obvious.

And there can be none of this 'he can't sell this tosh' stuff either - it's his job to do it.

Tosun's injury has probably screwed us on that one, so crap happens. But Bolasie and Besic and Pennington will all be gone on frees. Then you've got Kenny, Iwobi (crap), Bernard (alright on his day but wages) who need to be moved on. Kean - well I think Brands likes the lad and so do I, it'd be a shame but realistically there's a £35/40m player we can shift.

The one thing wrong with our squad is the lack of ready available youngsters from U23's/U18's, I feel like most teams in the league have one or two young players they can call upon or actively use but we don't and it makes our bench and general squad look terrible.

I agree completely but that isn't something that changes over night or even over a season, it's years and years of change to reap benefits.

Equally we have had Gordon make an impact last season, nobody has really stepped up this season but we do have a fair few vaguely promising players out on loan (it's easier to keep these players in the squad when you have euro games)

If he does stay, he'll have an even bigger summer than usual. It won't just be about getting rid of players from other failed transfer windows, it'll be him having to get rid of players he's paid big money for.

There should be no future at Everton for the likes of Delph, Iwobi and Gomes for starters. Then I think Kean will be a gonner and wouldn't be surprised to see Mina moved on either.

Everton has extended the contract of Marcel Brands, the Club's Director of Football.

The new arrangement with Brands, who was appointed in June 2018 and became a member of the Club’s Board in January 2019, will see him remain at Everton for a further three years.

Chairman Bill Kenwright said: “There hasn’t really been any doubt for some time that Marcel and I would sit down and agree a new contract. With Farhad’s blessing it took us around about one play of Z Cars to reach an agreement.

“As well as being terrific at his job, Marcel has an excellent working relationship with Carlo and with our CEO, Denise, and myself and it was important to maintain the structure and stability we have put in place over recent years.

"Farhad and I both wish our leadership team success and happiness as we all work together to build an exciting future for our great club."

Brands said: “Everton is a very special football club and a club with clear and exciting ambitions. We are making good progress and I believe we have everything in place for us to be successful.

“I am delighted to continue to work alongside such supportive and ambitious colleagues on our Board and Executive team and this, together with such a talented manager and supportive owner and Chairman, puts us in a really strong position for the future.”
