Marco Materazzi question

I loved him, added abit of fear in the defence and when Huckerby dived to get him sent off against coventry, it was hilarious when he went and sat near the corner flag in a big mood.

I still stick by the EPL was too fast for him and his clumsiness made him look rough. He couldn't take the pressure and the ferocity and could not control his temper and lashed out. Just my opinion of him of course.

Yeah would agree.

Think he was at Everton at a bad time as well, we were very defensive and every time he had the ball at his feet, more often than not, he'd have to lump it forward. Not his style of play at all.

Very true mate.

good stuff guys.... thanks for the responses

anytime matey. Thats why I love this place. Many opinions, some good, some bad, some down right strange(thats my speciality). Make yourself at home and post often. We are a growing family.

He wasn't a bad player at all. It's just that he is a lunatic. I mean completely insane. He did have a shot like a hammer though. Remember the freekick he took against Blackburn (?) from about 40 yards which hit the post. Headcase though if he were Scottish he'd be an idol by now.

Too be honest, the year we had Materazzi my interest in football had drifted for a bit, so I dont really remember him all that much. But I do remember being surprised we'd signed an Italian. I'm even more surprised that he's gone on to be so succesful.

walter didnt sign 'only crap' - he did his best but marco, dacourt, gravesen, did walter buy hutch? judas did well for us for a while, he brough kc in.

Yeah your right Suits, he signed a couple of decent ones. They got worse towards then end. He probably got fed up and lost the desire to succeed.

operating with a hand tied around his balls didnt help, we lost decent youth players like dunne, ball, and jeffers (at the time) and although money came in, it didnt always go 100% to replace the outgoings and when it did the signings were occasionally poor.

walter was in on the deal for simonsen.

i'd really like a breakdown of our managers during the PL and the players they signed.

anyone got any idea where to find such info?

As for smith, I think at the end of the day he just wasn't good enough, he bought ok some good some terrible but none of the class of cahill, arteta or lescott for example.
