The last 18 months worth of interviews he did under Martinez were shocking. I listened to that divvy on a football panel slating his own team mates and the manager in front of a national audience when we were playing a EL match at Goodison. He basically stabbed them in the back talking about how he didn't know what we were trying to achieve.

First rule of football camaraderie: dont defecate on your own doorstep. Got something to say? Dont go crying to the media...which he did on many occasions.

Never forgotten or forgiven.

He’d ran out of superlatives as bobby had used them all up. The boys been on a diet of football, the smiths and 90s Brit rock in general he was always going to be a bit dark in assessing our ‘philosophy’.

And that criticism looks pretty 'kin clueless now doesn't it? A no mark like Baines or a WC SF manager? Tough decision who to respect there like.
Dave honestly do you not remember how bad we were near the end with Martinez terrible derby defeats ? Sunderland away ? Come on mate we all know you liked Martinez but we were terrible and I know the players take some blame but he was the main man at time so the buck stops with him ?

.

It's not so much his football ability/inability I'd get shut of him for, it's his damage to team spirit and the continuation of the dressing room Clique....of which he's a central disruptive figure.
Fair comment that. Clique has to be broken up for sure. But its taken the passage of time to catch up with them.

The only clique getting dismantled is Bobby Blertos. Mori, Robles, Geads etc etc all shifted on. The hero clique of Baines, Jags, Mirallas etc will still be in situ and forever in our hearts for their sacrifice in ridding us of a helmet.

I feel like I must have missed something. Do you know which interviews these were? I'm genuinely interested mate because I'd not heard anything like this before. I know he and Martinez had a bit of an issue near the end ("Baines is one of us" obvs) saying in the press that the team lacked chemistry and that but properly slating his own teammates before a European night is news to me unless my memory is absolutely gone, which it very well may be.

Liked all of them at various times over the years (even Mirallas for a couple of seasons). Their time is coming to an end for sure.

It was HT in the home leg against Kiev in 2015. He was critical of the team for "not knowing who was picking up from set pieces" (as if he wasn't the biggest culprit of all when he was on the pitch) and that he wasn't sure of "who was supposed to organise defensively".

Knife in the back. I've never repsected him since that night and I never will. he followed that up with briefings to the press and BS about chemistry or lack of KNOWING he would destabilise the club even further.

"One of us"? Only if you happen to be a snide.

I tend to agree, stuff like that should be taken behind closed doors. But, when asked what he thought about Martinez tactics he answered what any Evertonian would. The guy wasnt speaking rubbish, and he wasnt stabbing his team mates in the back. He stuck Roberto a little, and if RM had listened to him and other seniors in the squad, he could have still been here.
Blaming Baines is uncalled for I think.
