Newcastle getting Benitez was ambitious, Weet Ham getting Pellegrini, Leeds getting Bielsa. That’s ambition. Top trophy winning managers. Shelling out millions to lure Martinez, Koeman and Silva isn’t.
well i agree re pellegrini, he should have been hired by us ages ago.

but in a way you have agreed with my point, because the 3 you have mentioned arent ambitious, as they are 'known' quantities. we should have gone with proven managers instead of gambles, which is probably the word i should have used instead of ambitious.

But the reality is you don't know. And you don't know how any of those you perceive to be better would get on here.
OGS practically relegated Cardiff but is now flying at Utd.
tbf neither do you that he is "the best that we can get". Moshiri, for whatever reason, has had a hardon for him for a year. It's not working out and he is found to be massively wanting as a manager.

Koeman’s got 6th and 7th at Soton with limited budget. I can see the reason at the time but Martinez and Silva? In particular they are low liar managers who relegated their clubs.

I don't just think Silva needs to go, I think the entire team needs shipping out, frankly. I want us to have a TEAM again. Not 11 individuals just in it for the money. I was never convinced by Silva, even when we won three on the trot in October

My proposal is that we appoint Giggs or Arteta, both of whom better understand the dynamics of a modern Premier League midfield. Appoint a competent defensive coach as opposed to Hugh Laurie - or whoever the hell it is - and get someone who will make zonal marking punishable by horse-whipping.

As for the team, we obviously can't ship everyone out, but the players that replace Coleman, Keane, Mina, Schneids, Gueye, Tosun, Bernard, Walcott, Baines, Jags would be better off having experienced some form of rejection in their past. Look beyond the hype and the transfer fee, get someone with experience of scouting under the radar who isn't called Steve Walsh, Weave Stalsh, or Mr Snrub.

I'm not saying that we'll do a Leicester with a bunch of misfits, but anyone with the desire to work hard and prove themselves as better than - or at least the ability to do the basics right - can achieve a lot more than many believe.

Let's be honest, would we be any worse?

.....woefully organised. I wouldn’t sack him, but the team are a shambles.

It really can’t help that he keeps selecting different CBs. Keane needs Zouma, Mina needs Zouma so he picks Keane and Mina.

Conceding 6 at home to Spurs said lots.
His last 3 jobs tell you he can't organise a defence. Same issue we had with Martinez, difference being we don't have Lukaku to bail him out at the other end.

I agree with that. We got lucky with Moyes (which was an incredibly uninspiring appointment on paper) and since then we seem to have an obsession over getting an up and coming managerial talent rather than just getting a proven one. Liverpool sacked off Rodgers and got Klopp in yet we seem to be allergic to actually just admitting we want a manager who knows what he’s doing.

Agreed on the first, I don't.
But I don't agree he has been found wanting. I believe we are still "TBC".

If we are happy to spend a million a week on utter deadwood players who don't offer anything whatsoever to our club, I'm sure the money must be there to get a really top class manager in. Obviously we'll end up with somebody utterly terrible like Mark Hughes though.
