Moyes in his prime was exactly what a club needed if they wanted to be ‘best of the rest’. If they really wanted to break into the top echelon however, he had neither the bollocks or the ability to do so. I know we had that one season when we finished 4th but that was the exception, not the rule.

As I said, that was Moyes in his prime, his performance at the clubs he has managed since leaving us have demonstrated that his prime years are behind him, so please. No more talk of the ginger winger as either temporary or permanent manager.

Did he down tools due to the ‘tap up’ or not good up to the job. If it’s due to the ‘tap up’ then it shows how unprofessional he is. First sign of of something better coming along then he’s off. We don’t need that. If it’s the latter then we don’t need that either.

It’s looking more like any actions by Everton were purely coincidental to Watford’s form tanking last season.

Currently leaning towards “out”, but I would wait until May unless someone of much higher quality is available right now.

Part of the issue right now is not what Silva can do but what others around him will do.

Unless Silva starts putting wins together then potentially other teams winning whilst we continue to drop points starts to shape the league around what our season actually is.

Granted we aren't going down bar some complete nose dive and an incredible run of form from the bottom teams.

But if we ended the season very close to 18th rather than touching distance to 7th then perspective completely changes. That's when you have to make the big decision.

As it happens Cardiff is the next must win game for us after Huddersfield. We fail there and God forbid get beat then with the derby in the horizon , there will be no way back for Silva. No matter how much the board want to back him.

He has to start not losing games very quickly and very regularly. That's if he is to stand a chance

Just read Silva is going to give the players time off so they can rest before they go warm weather training, what a joke does he think all of his problems will go away if the players are not around. If he does not want to be around the players then there is one easy answer SACK him.

I will never understand why people give a "and X games next year" and think that's not utterly irresponsible. Nothing against you, but where the hell are we getting in a competent manager in November December or January when it doesn't work?
I think brands will have his own shortlist of managers he would like to work with - I’m sure it won’t be the complete farce the last search was.

Realistically, i think top 6 this season was always going to be a little bit ambitious, however i think if we had maintained our " pre derby" form a comfortable 7th or 8th was definitely achievable.

The fact is, that result seems to have knocked the stuffing out of us and unfortunately , our manager does not seem to have the ability or man management skills to re instil the confidence in the players.

The way this season is mirroring his performance with Watford last year is frightening, it begs the question

Did he down tools because of the " tap up"?

or

Is he really not up to the job of managing in the Premier League?

IMO, the latter seems to be the answer at the moment.

I’d love the inquest into this show that he’s just not upto managing in the league - Watford’s claim thrown out - and then we do well next year

Sadly I just think he doesn’t understand how to manage the schedule and the intensity of the games.

I really dislike the whinging, useless bell whiff.

Look how he stands on the sidelines flashing his 500k Pounds watch with his arms folded, motionless, unable to even muster any words of encouragement to his players. Can you imagine him verbally slamming his players after each tepid performance? I highly doubt it. That's what happens when you appoint a meek, spineless manager who can hardly speak English. He probably pulls Jagielka to one side, whispers his instructions into his ear, and then Jagielka relays it to the players in a "don't-worry-lads, we're-all-still-getting-paid" kind of way.

He comes out, week after week, giving the same boring interviews to the media, finding fault with anything but himself. A pure charlitan proven by his behaviour at Watford. As soon as he heard there was a better offer available he downed tools until he got what he wanted.

Get lost will you. It's Brands' job to find the right manager, and he gets paid very, very handsomely for it. Sort it out.

Generally speaking, I want/wanted to give Silva until the end of next season before I made any kind of judgement

At some point we have to back a manager even when they are going through a poor spell otherwise we will just end up potentially changing manager every year

But - assuming we back Silva, that patience we are affording him is something he hasn't really earned, it's based on a strategy of not wanting to continue on the path we were on

He will need to halt this slide because no manager can realistically survive on the sort of run we've been on.

I doubt we will need to concern ourselves with the bottom three (although I accept our form is relegation standard), so I'd simply say that I wouldn't sack him right now, but he doesn't have a huge amount of leeway for things to get much worse.

EDIT - I will forgive a 17th place finish if we beat Liverpool and cost them the title though. It's the only meaningful thing we have left to play for, as pathetic as that sounds.

He really needs to pull something out of the bag quickly. I don’t want us to sack him and start the whole thing all over again, but if the inevitable drubbing in the derby is the 5th loss in a row he would be a very lucky man to ride it out.

I think this is were the majority of us sit. Nobody wants to be the club that sacks a manager every year but he needs a response and quick because it’s becoming ludicrous

I remember the commentator the other week saying Silva hadn't give the players a day off since just before the Christmas period (as if training for footy everyday on 100k a week is a hard job) so maybe the players have had a sulk and not putting a shift in because they want a day off, wouldn't put it past these clowns as we seen them down tools last year also

People expect response after the derby in December. It well downhill from there. Absolutely horrendous results since then.
