Really want him to succeed long term, we are stuck in a monotonous circle of just existing so I totally understand some fans not being happy or frustrated. I’m someone who got bored in the Moyes era, was it better than this? Yeah for the most part but what happened overall? Not much really, no silverware and when champions league qualification came around it resulted in a abysmal defeat in the uefa cup.

Don’t know what else to say really, will it be more of the same or will something worthwhile come out of all this? Time will tell I guess

Think this sums up where I am with it. The teams below are so terrible that we need probably 7 points from the next 18 games to stay up. We're in no danger but a bit like finishing 5th, 6th, 7th, 13th, 15th, what's the point of it really?

You look at the long term premier league teams (Spurs, Chelsea, United etc.) All have experienced some lean times but also a bit of glory, or progress. You look at others like West Ham and Newcastle who, let's be honest, we not really any significant margin better than post-1992 and they've been relegated to break up the monotony. Was it the death knell for them? No. They've returned to the grinding tedium.

30+ years since we last had a truly outstanding season and bar an FA Cup win in 1995, it's been Sysiphus rolling his boulder up the footballing hill. It's boring.

Either way, he was given time and we had a solid few years comfortable best of the rest. So I'm saying we all need to ride this out and start giving managers who aren't Allardyce some time otherwise we are going through the same story every season. That doesn't mean we should not criticise or demand better but lets see if Silva can stamp his identity on a squad built by 4 managers prior.

20 games 27 points. Not convinced at this moment.

Half season mark if the season and he scores a 3 out of 10

The football is now bordering on appalling, we’re lucky to not have on of te worst home records in the league and his tactics are inept at best

But we can’t afford to change, so hopefully he can spoof a Cup and bring a small bit of joy

My one big criticism of him has always been his in-game management, specifically in relation to subs. He leaves them too late to have the desired impact a lot of the time.

Agree, I've said this a few times now during games.

He's not one for a proactive change, tends to just reacts to conceding or when it's a little late in the day.

It's really the hope that kills you in the Premier League.

There are a lot of Villa fans where I work and although they would rather be playing in the top league, they are all enjoying the Championship. The football, the battles, the atmosphere, the fact there is something to fight for.

Better to support your local EFL or National League side really.

As I said earlier, there are absolutely no incentives or repercussions for teams like Everton who sit just outside the top 6. You can't try and go for a cup in case it effects league form, so you just carry on with the mediocrity. So it's all a bit pointless really.

Not just today though; the football has been appalling since September. Palace, Newcastle and Watford all deserved 3 points at Goodison. Cardiff probably deserved a draw

Fans have been overhyping us when we've gotten results and also overhyping players who haven't really done much yet. Now I think some are too doom and gloom when we've been particularly had recently. (Not saying you)

The reality is we are average still with some added quality in the squad. We are about where we deserve to be right now.

We need more in the 2nd half of the season that's for sure. I would be okay with finishing where we are but the performances need to convince even when the final score doesn't.....and so far not enough if the performances leave you convinced.

Lots of work still to do.

We are inconsistent as we always are, what's so shocking about that after the last few years, Silva isn't a miracle worker and he's only had 6 months here. It's getting borderline ridiculous calling for the managers head, saying all the players are garbage, the young lads are all rubbish. We as a fan base at some point are going to have to get behind a manager for a longer period than 6 months and one transfer window and stop throwing our toys out of the bath because anothe premier league outfit beats us at there own gaff.

It’s a nice story but it’s BS. Spurs fans were saying it a few years ago. It’s just harder in the PL because it’s the elite.

We wanted better football and we have it.

With no real striker as it appears, half a team that has had to get match fit and adjust to a new league at the same time.

Yes the season hasn't been fantastic so far but to completely change everything all at once as we did over the space of 6 months is never going to upturn a title challenge.

Essentially we are a midtable team still witj some boss signings but essentially still midtable. Not really a surprise that we are still here and have said all along this is a transitional period for brands.

Because that's what it is. Silva is neither here nor there ultimately. The club will back him and hope he brings success but if he doesn't then he doesn't matter. Brands is the one the club have invested In. He is the one who will transform how the club is run behind the scenes footballing wise, build a squad over several seasons and put us amongst the top club's (if he succeeds) .

So chill out. You can't complain about the lack of / crap striker options and then complain why we aren't winning more games. Complete nonsense.

It’s difficult though. We were considerably broken when he got here. And no matter who came in it was going to take ages to fix.

I’m just not seeing any sign of things being fixed. I don’t see any hope with him.

Agree. To be fair Silva had fix a considerable amount of issues and clear improvement in terms of how we play compared to big Sam. On the other hand, being better than big Sam is relatively easy accomplishment for most professional manager.

A better way to judge him is the benchmark he set himself from day one. A good manager improves the team as times goes by, every aspect from basics to fitness to tactics. With Silva, I’m seeing a flat line in terms of development. Not much had improve since the first month of his reign, that itself is a very alarming indication he might not be as good as we first believe.

Maybe I’m wrong but if this flat line continues till the end of the season, we have every right to feel he’s not worth to keep.

It took Klopp 4 years to get Liverpool where they are. Pochettino's had about the same amount with Spurs, I think?
