That shambles still managed to finish 8th. This season we have a better squad and a supposedly better manager and we’re languishing in 11th, having won one of the last 8.

If this season is a free pass, I’d like a refund on my season ticket. The club should have been adding that this season doesn’t matter as a caveat to the promotional campaign.

Not sure the club have said its a free season, Im almost certain its mainly me thats trotted out the free season line mostly and I spent 700 quid on season tickets safe in the knowledge that we wouldnt win naff all, like I do every year.

If your buying tickets expecting Everton to do anything are you even Everton.

Some of our fans are proper entitled. And delusional to think that we are anywhere near breaking into the top 6. To expect a manager to be knocking on that door within 3-6 months is just silly to be honest.

Especially given where we were, what are resources are etc. Some need to live in the real world.

Nil satis nisi optimum isn’t about demanding results straight away. It’s about striving for better. That, for a club of our size and resources, takes time.

I don’t think it’s about entitlement at all. I think that some fans are looking at a team full of international players and questioning why the tactics and style of player have completely deteriorated over the past couple couple of months.

Personally I think that’s down to fatigue. And a lack of depth in the squad. Especially, over the christmas period.

I think some of you have forgotten the absolute shambles this club was last season and the closed season, he gets a free pass for me this season, unless we are in real danger of relegation. He needs time to build what he and and Marcel are trying to build, calling for his head now is nothing short of idiotic
People won’t listen to the voice of reason though so wouldn’t waste too much time telling people mate.

I agree with everything you have said though he gets the chance of starting next season with more of a stamp on the team again and see where we are after 10 games. I do think we need a cup run though

I don’t know about that, we’ve seen games before this run that highlighted the same characteristics.

I’d be surprised to see how many changes each team made over the festival period, personally I’ve said my piece in this thread and I think the problem is a serious lack of tactics which go further back than the festive period

But, unless he bails, he’s going nowhere so I guess we’ll see if he’s as good as some believe and he can turn this around. It’s firmly in his hands. The squad maybe lacking compared but it’s considerably better than those we’ve recently lost to

He gets a free pass for this season from me too as there is no Manager on the Planet could turn Everton into a force to be reckoned with in just one season as we were a club that had hit rock bottom and absolute tripe before he took over. He is going to need a couple of seasons and a few transfer windows to change the mentality alone never mind anything else. Having said that though i do hope and expect him to take this FA Cup campaign very seriously. It is the only thing left to look forward to this season and we are fast approaching another unwanted club record as regards the longest period without winning silverware. It can also be a kick start to better form in the league too.

You also have to factor in agendas too mate :

Those that would have Moyes back / never wanted him to leave.

Those that would have Martinez back / never wanted him to leave.

Those that would have Allardyce back / never wanted him to leave.

No one would have Koeman / Walsh back !!!

The hysterical knee jerkers, who swing from loving the manager / team, to wanting to replace the manager / team, depending on the results.

Those that are never ever happy and just cryarse about everything.

Then there`s the majority, who are pragmatic.

Biggest game of the season today for both the club and Silva. The biggest problem I've had with Silva since his arrival at the club was his appalling decision to play a weakened side in the league cup which resulted in our elimination. Should he make a similar choice today and the final result be anything other then a resounding win then he will be personally responsible. He will completely lose any confidence I have in him. It's not difficult, we've got nothing to play for right now. We're not going down (so stop crying doom merchants) but we're not going upwards any time soon either. A cup run is the only thing that can save this season from being a total write off. The club, the manager and the players owe it to the fans too at least give the cup a real go and show it (and by extension the fans) some respect.

I am not sure it is a tactical thing, at least in terms of things that he (Silva) has done - we lack confidence, and for years now when we lack confidence we revert to the same old sideways-passing, rigid, mistake laden 4-5-1 that was the worst aspect of late period Moyes, Martinez from that rescheduled Palace game at home, most of Koeman's time and all of Allardyces.

It is his job to fix it however.

I don’t think there is an Evertonian alive who thought that we’d be successful this season, but to call it a ‘free pass’ is ridiculous.

This season should have been about seeing some progress and a clear pathway to success installed, even if it was just the initial stages.

So far, it has been an absolute mess. Going out of cup competitions at home, the current terrible run of form we’re on and languishing in the bottom half of the table after more than half the season gone.

Can he still turn it around? Yeah, of course, but he better start quickly, because he’s been an utter disaster so far.

But it's harder to win playing attractive football then it is to just park the bus and try to Nic something off a set piece or a lucky counter attack.

There needs to be foundations layed and style to be learnt, that takes time. Allerdyce got us 8th but that's all he would ever of gotten us Silva was brought in with the believe he can take us further.

People forget as well we never just changed manager this season the entire club has been restructured in the summer.
