TO be honest...It probably boils down to Premiership Experience ..Silva..Fonseca..who else...perhaps Silva is considered a good compromise ...compared with Fonseca the untried (Possibly unknown)
Martinez had "Premier League experience". He was relegated and completely ignored 50% of the sport that wasn't attacking.

Koeman had "Premier League experience" and fell out with players all over the place in his managerial career.

FSA has more "Premier League experience" than anyone in the game, we all see how that went.

Couple things about Silva. Watford had zero talent on defense. Maybe that's Silva's fault, but it's not like they had a ton of cashola on hand to buy players.

His team played hard and were entertaining for sure. Would love for him to bring Doucoure with him.

But honestly, what matters more is how his tactics are. Brand is going to acquire the players I would hope.
Apart from the 11 games without a win when he got sacked!

He’s clearly had no say in the choice of manager which is worrying in itself.

It's got to be this guy for me, solely because it's the only option that would at least give me a hope that Moshiri has a plan and doesn't just do things at random.

He wanted this guy at Watford; there's little reason why he should have changed his mind now. I can understand Allardyce being the short term option if he genuinely feared relegation, but there's no reason why he shouldn't pull the trigger on hiring Silva now.

All that said, I don't necessarily rate Silva, but he's the only person who makes sense at this moment to me.

No - Moyes has been our best manager over the past two decades or so and this time would actually have a decent budget.
Our best manager over the past two decades? There have been 5 of them. 6 if you include Unsworth.

Koeman lasted one season. Smith was dire, Allardyce thankfully appears to have only been a temporary hire. That leaves you with a choice of Moyes or Martinez.

To make a statement like yours, we would have to have had an absolute tonne of managers or had so many successful ones, it would make the choice of which one was the best exceedingly difficult.

Moyes did a decent job on little money for the first 5 years. Nothing more. Silva or Fonseca might well turn out to be rubbish but they remain untested. You can't just claim they are going to be a new version of Martinez because you seem him a failure. They are unproven but Moyes provides no surprises. We know exactly what we will get and now, just as then, it won't be good enough.

And don't give me that 'all he needed was money nonsense'. He built a good enough team to compete between 07 and 09 (which is to his credit). The limiting factor wasn't budget. It was him. HE shut up shop and ended up losing points against the big teams. HE never even tried to win away against the big teams. HE cultivated a bottlers mentality of fear towards Liverpool. HE insisted on playing the likes of Hibbert, Neville and Osman no matter what.

Lots of mistakes have been made subsequently but he is responsible for our long term decline almost as much as Kenwright. Plus he walked out on us when given a sniff of a job he's done nothing to deserve despite criticising players for doing similar. The mere fact he is hailed as a hero is indicative of our great decline.

At least Roberto and Koeman were proven managers in this league. Silva has a relegation and a sacking as his CV and Fonseca has never even been here.

But hiring British managers is unfashionable nowadays, as is earning a good team through good management. Everyone just wants to spend the way to success

Roberto was proven at nothing but relegation battles. I don’t know why Koeman turned out so badly as he had a strong record at Southampton so should have translated to a bigger club like Pochettino did at Spurs.

Silva is talented, unproven in England maybe, but considering where we are this is the type of profile we have to go for. We can’t attract a risk free proven winner.

Im sure the Watford fans who traveled to Goodison were entertained when they blew a 2-0 lead, as for Doucoure, not a chance Watford are dealin with us again unless they shaft us

Decent job is rewriting history to the extreme, but a lot of people do that with the Moyes years
