I actually have a different view to many on here. DCL was poor for the first hour, but when Kean and Iwobi came on he actually played well and linked up nicely, so I understand why DCL was left on.

Not advocating for DCL to start games, but with additional movement around him, he has value.

The change I was surprised didn't happen was bringing a forward thinking midfielder like Davies on for Gomes, who had a mare. Even if Davies ball use isn't perfect, it's the thinking behind his forward passing and attempts to try create which would create half changes for the forwards, even if it was due to a poor pass which gets a deflection off an opposing defender. The gomes/Schneiderlin pairing late in the game, was far too predictable.

If people have literally no concerns about tonight’s performance then they must be happy with us showing no signs of improving at all.

And I find that really weird.

Not concerned about where we'll finish (7th, 8th, 9th.....). But concerned about how we're ever going to bridge the big gap to the top 6. Big chance tonight......but alas no!!

Funny thing is, if we didn’t go behind when we did, I think we pull this one out. The second they scored, I had that feeling it was over. You can’t rely on other teams trying to attack you to win games. Villa were able to sit back and Silva looked clueless. He has to get better against these sides.

So people calling for his head on the back of a loss nothing new there. Just ask yourselves this who would you want? Jose? Would he be the answer probably not. Do you honestly think we can just go out and get a world class manager by fluttering our eyes and opening the wallet and saying have this? Not a chance we are a little fish in a big pond who offer no european football. The results at the back end of last year were quality and everyone changed their minds about him. We are 3 games into a season and all of a sudden he’s crap and should be sacked. Yes but it's a bit too late to be coming into form, when the season is dead and buried.That was a problem under Moyes as well.

Honestly can’t be arsed with another 1/2 seasons of Martinez esque arguing on here of whether he should go and the fanboys becoming ever more entrenched when we lose our 6th game in 9 in January time.

Does anyone honestly see him as the man to lead us to a cup?

I don't think he's a brilliant manager but I don't think he has a brilliant team. We are so far behind the top 6 and therefore it's just a shrug of the shoulders from me unless we go on a terrible run.

Great the unwanted return of the December 2018 until around March 2019 Everton.I believe in giving both praise and criticism, when it's due and merited.Well guess what, criticism of the players and manager, is well merited and well deserved tonight.This is dire, and a throwback to a period that we thought was behind us.

Of course there has to be concerns about that tonight,but they are concerns that have dogged us for ages,we never look fit at the start of the season,we havent won an away game after being behind at half time for 4 years,there is no fight when we are poor,heads just drop,but thats been a problem for years
