Marco Silva

Felt very Pickford Derby-esque that yesterday for Silva.

Was doing really well for us, then that happened and it all unravelled pretty quickly.

Hopefully for him, that isn’t that case, but to lose in that manner, when you played so well will be soul destroying.

Wasn’t much between what Mitrovic did and what Fernandez did the other week for me.
Saw something on one of their goals and how it compared to the disallowed one we had the other year when Iceland was on the floor. Have to dig it out for the VAR thread.

Fernandes was pushed by the lino first and then he pushed him in the back in a petulant manner. He should have been at least booked but there wasn't much of an aggressive intent in what he did.

Mitrovich was right in the ref's face and pointing fingers. He looked like he was going to lamp him at one stage. This was after he had already been shown the red card. He was out of control and was aggressive as you can get which is why he is going to get a severe punishment.

The two incidents are vastly different.

Terrible take for Fernandes.

You can argue the referee is arrogant for Mitrovic, but you can’t lose your rag and push the referee, there has to be a line of respect somewhere. Mitrovic chases him down, pushes him and squares up to him.

Whereas Fernandes push was no more than a retaliation to being pushed himself, and there didn’t seem to be any malice in it.

Can a player push one of the refs in any circumstances?
If so what’s the limit between no action and a red card?

You saying the assistant ref pushed Fernandez?
As for no malice, his head had gone too due ‘de werlds best right back©’ winding him up.
He’s pushed the (assistent) ref out of frustration, so did mitrovic.

Fernandes should have been punished and i’m certainly surprised he got away with retrospective action , however I can differentiate between the two . Fernandes was trying to continue the play and perceived the assistant to be in his way , I’m not excusing it but putting it in perspective. Mitrovic lost his head , barged the ref and seemed to be shouting in his face . Neither is acceptable but one is definitely worse than the other for me .

Yes I can see now that Mitovic push on the refs elbow was bordering on an arm breaking kimura whereas Fernandez push in the back would have been accompanied by ‘tickle tickle tickle’ had the pitch side mics been on 👍🏼

It's crazy that people don't see any inconsistency here. As if you could go through all the times teams chase the ref around and find Mitrovic definitely was one of few over the line enough for a red.

I remember Ballack battering the ref in that Chelsea-Barca match back in the day and thinking it was crazy the ref didn't do anything. This wasn't even half as bad.

Post getting carded I would agree mitrovic will get extra for that, but if he had turned round and walked straight down the tunnel, is one that much worse that the other?
My point was the both pushed the ref neither were particularly hard pushes, one saw no action taken the other got a red before you could blink.

Yeah exactly what Mitrovic did that might be over the line was AFTER already seeing red.
