I know Moyes played us down but at times we appreciated that. We could go into games without pressure. The season we finished 4th took everybody by surprise and Moyes played it cool all season.

I totally agree with this, but there are times when you need to build yourselves up. Moyes played everything brilliantly IMO for 5-6 yrs. And at times after that too but it got to a point towards the end where his team needed building up he kept knocking us down with his talk of getting 40pts first etc.

Your not gonna build a fear factor with talk like that!

Hahaha, I think I rang one myself once. My dad wasn't pleased.

We went on a long holiday to the UK and a while after we got back we found out that our son had added the Adults Only channel to our cable TV sub.

Cheeky bugger didn't offer to pay the extra and I rang up and cancelled it. With some regret, I must admit.

People who read newspapers are in a little mini-mental-abusive relationship. Everyone hates them and the way they twist words and make things up but then they still care enough about what they say to read/post about it (even though they know it's all garbage). Just stop reading them. Certainly the tabloids ... and you make a case for binning the "proper" newspapers too. More trouble than they are worth.

That said the Mail link there seems to be taking it in the spirit it was intended ... which may be the only thing they've done right in about twenty years.

Independant (NPI) from my hatred of newspapers ... that is a top quote from RM. Great stuff.

I agree, it's getting to the point where the football "journalists" are not much better than pundits on TV in that they will very rarely tell you something you don't know. They are given agendas to write about as it will drive more traffic. i.e: countless Arsenal/Man U in crisis articles, or such and such young player is the next big thing.

Theres a few exceptions though. Sid Lowe on the Guardian writes about La Liga every week and is probably my favourite football writer. Gives you lots of little insights into the game/culture/lesser known teams here.

As pointed out on the last page; I don't know why people bother reading this crap (the papers.) They're far from perfect, but I only ever read The Echo for Everton news and features. Call them RS bias if you want, I won't argue. However, they rarely, if ever, twist the words of a manager, player, ex-player etc to create a non-story.

Genuinely never seem to make blag transfer rumours up either. Although a lot of people have fallen victim to their 'transfer rumours' webpage which basically admits it's a load of crap rumours from the interweb and tabloids.
