Mason Greenwood

Oh ffs Arnold, having seen the abuse sent to the women's team members the other week he has decided to again mention them so they can get a second round.

Timings have also been influenced by my desire to minimise the impact of the investigation on our men's and women's teams, as well as our Lionesses. I acknowledge that this gave more time for speculation, but the alternative would have been to compromise due process or create untimely disruption.
...
Last week the media reported that we had decided to reintegrate Mason and that elements of a plan to do so had been leaked to them. Reintegration was one of the outcomes we considered and planned for. For context, over the course of the past six months several outcomes have been contemplated and planned for, and my view has evolved as our process progressed. While the ultimate decision rested with me, I was taking various factors and views into account right up until the point of finalising my decision.

What is the truth of this, will we ever know

There was an allegation, which was denied. The allegations were then withdrawn and no charges were ever made.

So what is the end result?

I'm not naive enough to think a little thing like morality would have come into the decision process but as you've said between the lawyer fees, pr fees and the hit they have taken to their brand (sponsors really love to be asked about domestic violence) you'd have thought it a simple business decision.
The allegations were so serious and the "evidence" in the public domain was so compelling that United should have conducted their investigation and taken appropriate action months ago.

Disgracefully they have been waiting trying to judge the public mood rather than doing the right thing.

They maybe crap on the pitch but you would hope that their history demands that they stand for something. Sadly that doesn't appear to be the case.

Yet another club with no moral compass.

man utd have tried a fast one here, they've announced his recall to test the water and judge the backlash, had there been much less they'd have allowed him back and to hell with the boo boys. As it is, its gone up like tnt and now they're trying to save face. pricks.

Seems clear enough that they wanted him back, tested the waters, found too many sharks and decided to walk away instead.

It's not a good look for United, and the delay also puts them in an awkward spot as they try to recover what they can from the contract. Any Italian destination would be a whirlwind romance at this point, which should give those clubs pause. Turkey and Saudi Arabia have longer windows, if there are takers there.
