Williams yes, Pennington probably but Browning never got a chance and therefore should get one, at least in the friendlies.
Galloway did get a chance and even out of position was better than Baines, but then was dropped and gradually purged. If Mina doesn't sign and Silva really does want to play three at the back, he should really look at at least trying Galloway - Keane - Holgate as I think it would probably work quite well - certainly it would help Keane with his deficiencies a lot more than putting Jags or Williams next to him does.

Just because they’ve not played in the friendlies doesn’t mean Silva/Brands haven’t had a look at them. I really liked the look of Galloway when he broke through playing at LB, but he doesn’t appear to have kicked on. He couldn’t vent get in the West Brom or Sunderland sides.
So my comment was based on the fact that Silva/Brands doesn’t appear to rate them & want to get to a squad of 25. Obviously, if they feel there’s still hope for them, that’s good enough for me.
Still think we need 2 starting CBs in this window.

He's got to be better than what we've seen so far. Jags is shot and Keane is woeful, Pennington doesn't even deserve a mention (although I have)

Annoying his injury has come at the wrong time just like Walcott when both could have secured a first team spot with ease this pre season.

Galloway not kicking on was down to Martinez refusing to play him once Baines came back; if Martinez had kept faith (or at least waited until it was reasonable to try Baines again) I honestly think Galloway would have pushed on to at least where Holgate is. As for WBA and Sland, they were disasters but on reflection the club should have been a lot more careful in selecting where he was going to go - Pulis has very little history of playing elegant defenders and Sland were a byword for incompetence long before we let Galloway and Browning go there.
Also if Silva and Brands don't rate him based on what they've seen in training and appear to prefer Williams / Jags, then surely that is a lot more worrying?
