This post is the main issue with the fan base. It’s like people are itching to abuse a player.

Of course, praise and criticise where necessary, but sort of acting like “good job you didn’t mess up or we’d have jumped on you” is bizarre to me.

He was back as a centre back today and his performance was great. He is ok as cover for RB, but its not a comfortable position for him.

...agree, hopefully nobody wants a player to have a stinker so they can submit an ‘I told you so’ post.

Regarding Holgate, I doubt his ability but I never doubt his attitude and I’m absolutely chuffed he had such a terrific game last night.

Played very well in the derby i just dont see hype he gets in here, for me he's an accident waiting to happen when i watch him play.

Was excellent last season, not as good this, for whatever reason, but looked to be back to his best on Saturday. I agree about the concentration - he has a touch of arrogance, which is not necessarily a bad thing in a footballer, and that occasionally causes him to get a bit sloppy. Sort that and he'll be fine.

Thought that myself one of Mina or Keane in the middle for height/ experience and the speed, aggression and mobility of Holgate and Godfrey either side.

Godfrey has an industrious determined style of play, he looks busy, he looks determined and he looks like he would take his granny off at the knees to clear a ball out of our defence.

Holgate has a different but no less effective style, he is more collected on the ball, probably prepared to take a risk or two more than Godfrey.

It is understandable that supporters prefer the more obvious playing style of Godfrey.

We must also remember that at some future date Godfrey will go through a poor patch and their will be those on here offering to give him a drive to some random first or second division club.
