I always thought so. Good aggressive player with spirit. Nothing special but had something. Good squad player who has the possibility to improve. I see a change this season. Small things. I know it sounds a bit trivial but it's his new I'm too cool for school showmanship. Chewing gum. Strutting around. Definitely not the same in you face attitude he used to get in the team. It's like I'm here now. Hopefully he will look at godfrey and his excellent win at all costs attitude and it would be great to learn off him.

Interesting that Carlo name drops him as someone who could potentially play in midfield while Doucoure is out.

Maybe he wants to somehow squeeze all 4x centre halves and Digne into a defence haha.

Mason is underrated for me....solid, committed and improving technically. Can see him, Ben Godfrey and Jarrod Branthwaitenmaking a longstanding central three in the next season or so.

Given a choice I would put Godfrey rather than Holgate in midfield. Would love to see him drive forward with the ball from a central position.

His shirt number change makes me laugh. Last season number 2 plays mostly at CB this season number 4 plays mostly at RB.

Who does he think he is walking around chewing gum? Young ‘men’ these days.... him and that Sterling lad have got no respect.

It’s funny pre season we were all so disappointed with his injury against Preston, but I’d suggest he’s 4th choice for centre back now, due to the form of Keane, Mina and Godfrey.

Bit harsh JLW, but I would agree he has not progressed as well as I thought he might this season. As noted in a previous post, he is now the fourth choice central defender and for me he should be second choice behind Seamus at right back.
There definitely IS a footballer in there but he needs to work harder and to improve his billy big-bollocks attitude.
