It seems like he gets booked every game, and usually for silly challenges as well. I used to think he would be quality, was it under Big Sam when he had a good run but then got injured. He's been woeful since. Last night when he was messing about on the ball which led to their first goal, he should have just played the corner and then shouted at his team mates for not showing. Pickford, Allan and Coleman all giving him [Poor language removed] for it. You don't mess about when you've just scored like that.

1.0 up with half time coming and he doesn't play the simple possession passes, this season for sure hes amateur at best , no way is he a professional football player.

When he got booked I was surprised Newcastle didn’t switch ASM to the right to play against Townsend and Holgate. (And then we switched Holgate ourselves so they didn’t need to)

We have a good shape here, allan is able to follow the ball whilst defenders hold shape, Gordon is coming back from attack to help out to.

But Holgate decides to steam towards the ball like a jack russell, why?

Creates a huge space for Joelinton to drive at and then causes allan and coleman to get sucked in to the ball, so you have 3 players sucked into something that shouldn't have happened anyway
So now pic below, Gordon is ineffective defending because theres 3 players there all focused on the same thing, causing the whole team to drift towards, leaving space at the back as they're a man less all due to Holgate's awful decision

No footballing brain that's why, sometimes his decisions are like that of a Sunday league player after a night on the lash and nest.

I would genuinely argue that amongst all of the utter garbo we have in the squad, Holgate is in a league of his own when it comes to being terrible. At this point I'd be going through every single youth squad that we have to look for another option that playing him.
