Agree on this, we have three players there with little between them. He's never been any worse than Godfrey or Keane, but gets a lot more stick.
One that I like to see doing well.
Yes was disappointed in him doing that, no need, his hot headedness let's him down sometimesAgree on this, we have three players there with little between them.
I was a bit disappointed with his yellow yesterday, would rather heron one putting a foot in then wasting time, but either way he rose yesterday to the occasion
Having a strong willed centre back partnering him does wonders for him. Let us pray they both stay healthy for the run in.He's never been any worse than Godfrey or Keane, but gets a lot more stick.

Me too. He's never been any worse than Godfrey or Keane, but gets a lot more stick.

Seamus and Yeri both know communication is vital for a strong defensive unit. Take that away and we will see the 'old' Holgate reappear. He is a listener, a domestic defender if you like, not everybody is a leader.Nothing will make me change my opinion of him as a footballer. Played well yesterday but it's almost no coincidence he had Coleman and Mina talking him through the game yesterday from the first minute.
Branthwaite alongside Mina, a left footer and a right footer and 2 defenders who are 6' 5" tall….I think he’s dreadful, reckless and gets caught ball watching. He gives away loads of free kicks in dangerous areas (one early when Mount was running beyond him) because he can’t cope.
One thing he doesn’t lack, though, is attitude and it might have been a shrewd move by Lampard to play him. We need players who are not scared of the situation. Dogs of War.
i admit I wouldn’t play him, even ahead of Keane. i actually think Branthwaite has a competitive edge, quality, pace and carries a threat from set pieces, I’d certainly have him ahead of Holgate.
I normally agree wholeheartedly with Eggs, but not on this. Holgate is easily above Keane and likely above Branthwaite in ten pecking order. He’s aggressive, competitive and strong in the tackle. Keane is none of those. Branthwaite is a better footballer, but we need strength and commitment in our hour of need. Let’s give the lad a break and get behind him.….I think he’s dreadful, reckless and gets caught ball watching. I’d be moving Keane on and looking for another defender who can replicate Mina. As Yerry just can’t stay fit.Just like Keane, he can only play well, when Big Yerry is holding his hand.
So, if we stay up, we either base the central defence around Big Yerry and his multitude of fitness problems or we let the likes of Holgate and Keane go, if we decide to move Big Yerry on at the end of the season and almost start again.
