Croatia have actually got some great players. Rakitic, Modric and arguably Mandzukic are world class, Srna and Kovacic are players, then the likes of Lovren, Olic and Eduardo aren't too bad at all.

Unfortunately for them they're surrounded by tosh like Jelavic and Corluka.

Good to see the domestic opinion, the midfield IMO is good, but I think Srna a little older, you'll struggle to connect the talented, but deep-lying orientated midfield. This'll mean you'll spend a lot of time as a broken team, and it's down to Pranjic to connect midfield and attack with balls received from the wings. Rakitić is a really decent prospect, and he might be able to force a gap through his long, direct balls or direct running (signing for Barca too apparently).

Pranjić is out, Vrsaljko (Genoa) will play at LB although he is natural RB.

Rakitić is supposed to play in DM along with wizard Modrić with Kovačić in front (I don't like three fantazistas in the middle, no proper destructor). Shame, he played DM in Sevilla in early stages, he became one of La Liga's bests after he was moved to offensive part of midfield and got Barcelona transfer... I am sure we would have make much more with him in front of Modrić and one classic DM.

If I was manager, I would pčay 3-5-2, we don't have best RB and LB to make it proper 4-4-2 or any other with 4 in back line

Pletikosa
Ćorluka - Lovren - Schildenfeld
Srna ----------------------------------- Vrsaljko
-------------------Vukojević--------------------
--------Modrić-------------------Rakitić---------
--------------Eduardo---------------------------
----------------------Jelavić--------------------
Instead, we are having this
Pletikosa
Srna ----- Ćorluka --- Schildenfeld ----- Vrsaljko
Modrić ----- Rakitić
Perišić -------------- Kovačić --------------Olić
Jelavić

Today's going to go really slow waiting for the togger.

Croatia have decent players. The opening game is always a tight affair and cagey. Must be the hardest game to play in all the adrenline and such.

Watch the cricket and the golf while you wait mate. It's the only cure for waiting on sport....more sport.

Usually, I'd want Croatia to win, as I still have a soft spot for our Nikki. But my fantasy team with Cesar, Marcelo and Neymar comes first.

Playing three registas (which is effectively what all of them are), is dangerous against the power of the Brazil midfield, but it'll be elegant and snazzy to watch. I love the term fantazistas and all the implications it has. Vrsaljko from what I've seen of him is comfortable on either foot, but crossing will come from Srna/Perišić side anyway, towards Olić, so that won't be a problem, and also I don't buy the whole 'weaker foot' thing, but it is still a concern. Three at the back, in my opinion, would cause Ćorluka and Schildenfeld to be exposed as slow by the Brazil attack, so I would still to a back for but Vukojević has been good, very Gatusso like in the times I've seen him for Dynamo Kyiv. Maybe a more solid 4-3-3, with Eduardo, Mandzukic (fit?) and Olić rotating up front, with width from Srna and Vrsaljko might be the best way at exposing the deficiencies that Brazil have behind the full backs.

But I'm sorry, Brazil to win is on my Acca, so I'm not going to be forwarding this to Kovacs ;)
